Few pictures from the day at Surrey Rolling Road

M50 Manifold fitted and up to 217.4 BHP

I reckon it can crack 220 without any more mods as i'd only done 100 miles since the swap so not sure the ECU was fully mapped to the manifold.

probably going to stop with trying to get more power now as the gains are going to be marginal / not cost effective.

have a few more jobs to do

  • bleed brakes
  • coolant change
  • gearbox oil
  • replace rusty panels with ones in my garage
  • rewire USB socket to make it an ignition live
  • fit front ARB bushes

The old girls come on nicely. Once you these last few jobs done your going to get bored.

Epic thread ! Having just bought a silver pre face light 2.8 couldn’t believe my luck when I seen your thread.

You couldn’t buy this info - got so many ideas off you , but I’ll have to stagger them to get them past the other half -

Rear light de tango
Turn light de tango
Air filter mod ( any issues with oil on Maf ? )
USB charger

Would love to get the bushes all done , but beyond my capability.

Waiting on a mechanic to sort my boot welds, and a set of seats to come from a well known member ;)

Glad this thread has helped.

There is no problem with the maf and oiling. Check out k&n website for more info.

The jobs never end but it's fun to do them

Yea def - I’m not sure the k&n site would give an objective view. I have def heard reports of kn oil based filters fouling the maf over time.

But I can’t remember if this was Audi or bm.

But don’t doubt it sounds awesome !

Of course they may be biased .but read their research. It's quite conclusive .I would also take their advice over some Internet hearsay or random mechanic .

I've had filters on nearly all my cars and never had a problem.

Few little changes today as wanted to get outside and enjoy the warming temperatures

Leather hockey sticks fitted which I'm so happy with.

And also rewired the USB voltage gauge to only come on with the ignition by locating another suitable unused wire

I’m certainly no expert, just thought I’d mention it ;)

Good to know you have had no issues, as I’m tempted to put one on mine.

Did you consider the Apollo one? Maybe that’s the same filter with housing ?

No I wanted to make my own kit up so it was important to keep the cost down. The apollo seems very expensive and mine make really good power

The filter I chose was also the biggest you can physically fit in the engine bay

I make the kits if you fancy one?

Nice. I have some leather sticks to fit- is it a console out job or can you do it in car?

The wrap looks good too

Yea I am tempted, but let me come back to you next month! Appreciate the offer.

I seen your power run pre manifold, which looked great.

Have just paid for new seats and need to pay for spot weld repair in the boot. I have checked the diff mount and cross member and see no tears, but obviously still anxious how much the repair will cost.

Great power gains pal, the manifold upgrade is on my list

Quick job after work today as the weathers been nice.

I’ve had a rusty wing for ages and finally found a good enough second hand panel.

So swapped it over tonight after treating the new panel to some bilt hamber rust preventer / cavity wax

Dead easy.

Remove wheel
Remove arch liner
4 x 8mm bolts
Remove side repeater
