just a quick update on something I did today:

Wanted to try an android head unit.

It is Android and so has Google Playstore, so I managed to download my Sygic maps and use that as the GPS.
I have downloaded Spotify and my playlists.
The screen can be moved up or down, and also turned, there is room to get my fingers behind to operate the heater controls, and it does not block the vents. and also works with my reverse camera:

still playing with settings yet, but so far so good...

I love one with an adjustable face so you can slide up to get at the heater controls and slide down again!

it is the 9 inch,
I wanted an 8 inch really but they were stupid prices just for a trial.
The screen can be raised or lowered but you have to use 2 hands,
There is enough room to turn all of the heater controls, its just that you cant see them when its down.

Great rear camera view, obviously down to screen size. Like the idea. Use of blue carbon looks great.

so had some more time on my hands, and thought I would give a little project a try

I always wondered what DTM style LED's would look like, and so I bought some for a pair of old headlights I had in the back of the garage.

First I separated the front lens from the body using a heat gun, (I normally use the oven but dinner was in there)
I did this so I could remove the ginger lens. I have some white lenses on my current lights, but I didnt want to separate those jusr yet, however removing the ginger lens gives a nice shiny chrome reflector.

Refitted the fronts again, and then separated the backs from the body to get to the light lenses.

so I used transparent silicone to hold them in place:

Both fronts were a bit scratched and dull:

so some 1500 grade wet'n'dry then a polish with some cutting compound did the trick on both.

fitted back together:

then onto the other side





and the end result?

Photo's don't do them justice really, they are very bright..

Yes they are a bit smaller than the light lenses, but the original horseshoe LED's were never entirely the same diameter either, but these have the flat bottom to match the flat bottom on the headlights unlike the horseshoe ones.


and I like them better than I thought I would....

not with those bloody headlights.... I did my first Z4 headlights and fitted angel eyes to that:

the trouble with a z4 is that the glue does not melt with heat,
you have to cut the lenses off.....never doing that again, and certainly not with her xenon versions
