Offering up the side pipes, needs quite a bit of custom work to these as they were really bad quality and missing an entire side pipe! But with a good welder close and some cheap pipe replacement it should look good.

Still wondering if I powder coat these black at some point in the future.

So I went to see the progress on the car this weekend, not much has changed externally but it now has a very nice custom bonnet mechanism for lifting the front up. This should hopefully mean we don't need the hole in the front of the grill like most Kobra's have.

Also got some new filler on the old wing mirror mounting points.

Lastly the side exhausts have a nice bracket on them which should hold them in place with minimal visible mounting points.



So looking at the side profile, I think it needs bigger wheels and lowering personally. The back wheels especially don't fill the arch as I would like but maybe that would look better once lowered.

Also check out those panel gaps, really good compared to some others I have seen.

Looking good so far.

I would wait until it is out of paint before doing too much more regarding stance.

The fronts look correct but rears might benefit from being a little larger in circumference. The 'trouble' with large size wheels is that the low profile tyres make the wheel 'look' small.

What are your current wheel and tyre sizes? You might be able to go a bit in size on the rears but not so much to affect geometry and speedometer accuracy.

Must come see when it is finished.

mine is similar ...
Lowered slightly .... may raise it a tiny amount when it’s back from paint

Personally i think a rich Burgundy or dark red

Currently sitting on Calibre vintage 17's. I think they are too small personally but I love the style of them.


I'm still up in the air about the final wheels. REALLY want 18" halibands but it might be a step too far financially I've found another Kobra which uses them and they look so awesome.


I've already got some 19" BBS LM's sitting around as well, but for me I think they look too modern

Side view of mine showing wheel gaps. I originally had it down on the BCs where it was a couple of fingers between tyre top and rear fenders. Ride was crash AF.

Raised it and now can get my whole hand in. So much better to drive.

My wheels are 16s and when black it changes how they look and perception of arch filling,

Decisions.... Decisions....

I really like the 17” calibres and tempted to put them on mine. You could look at keeping the wheels but just putting bigger rubber on. What size tyres you on currently and what width wheels in J ?

Also the tyres in the pic are a bit dirty and that makes them look smaller.

I think a bit more rubber. Perhaps a wheel spacer to bring them out a tad and you will be golden.
