Hey @tabspeed I got my printout for the AB fault in my car,

Restraints (Airbag - SBSL (SBSL: B-pillar left side))
DTC
Description - No fault codes.

Restraints (Airbag - SBSR (SBSR: Satelit B-pillar right side))

DTC - 98EB
Description - Resistance, firing circuit,thorax airbag,rear right(E85,E60,E61), or knee airbag,front right(E63,E64),too high - Intermittent

Restraints (Airbag - SIM (Safety module))
DTC
Description - No fault codes

I haven't progressed this as yet, light still on.

Tony.

ps. As the Z4 doesn't have a "B" pillar I wonder if it refers to the door mounted airbag?

cheers tony,i think there is a crash sensor located around both sill area to detect a side impact,i have ordered one of ebay for a tenner,so will try replacing them one at a time with it,i am wondering if the motor well on the left has filled up with water and at some point got the sensor wet causing the problem,as soon as it stops raining i am taking seats out to clean carpets etc,so will remove plastic trim to try find them.cheers

I caught my front bumper on a kerb a couple of weeks back and wondered if there was any kind of sensor behind the front bumper at the nearside I could have upset. Recently had both door cards off too.

any progress with the air bag tony, still have to refit my seats, was a bit damp under the carpets at the driver side rear, took the right hand sensor off and took the cover off,no obvious signs, and seemed pretty dry in there

Hi mate, sorry I meant to tell you at the weekend. I had the drivers door card off again on Saturday and i think my issue was in the block connector on the A pillar. I got the code cleared on Monday and touch wood the light has stayed off. I had run wires through that plug/socket when I fitted the puddle lights etc.

everything back in today, and cleared the airbag light, which is now staying off,so i am presuming the passenger seat occupancy sensor was at fault, and the bypass resistor i got off ebay has sorted it:)

That's great, hope it's the end of it. I'm fairly confident my AB light issue is now gone too!

Hi, new here. Thanks for the excellent write up, going to give this a go on my Z4.

To be clear, when separating the top motor from the pump body, are you saying to hold the assembly with the motor facing down and the oil reservoir facing up?

You can separate the motor from the pump by removing 2 allen bolts, but do this with the pump downwards and break the joint nearest the motor or you will lose hydraulic oil (ask me how I know)
If so, it seems like with the oil reservoir inverted it will dump oil once you break the motor loose, or am I misunderstanding?
Also, is standard hydraulic jack oil ok for top up (the factory oil is awfully pricey). Thanks again, Andy
