Hello, yes, the pictures are all visible this time but sometimes are replaced with an 'X'
I'm going to try the hole and grips tomorrow.
Thanks

hi chaps,am i right in thinking the roof control module(white plastic box) is behind the plastic grill, which is at the rear of the passenger seat,
if so i am presuming the two wires from the pump go back to this, and the module reverses the polarity depending on which switch is pressed(open or close) and also cuts the motor out when one of the sensors is activated.
if so i can cut the wires at the pump and module and run new wires from module to the know relocated pump, and just leave the dead wires in the well
just a bit scared of cutting hard to access wires, will be a pig to re connect, cheers

If you are as a last resort cutting them, then there is no harm in giving them a good tug which may break the tie wraps anyway and save you the bother..
If you have to cut them, the wires look like green and black & blue and black, check those are the ones at the module end
yeah i know what you mean,i can feel what feels like a tie wrap in the well holding them,i can only feel 2 wires going into the pump, which is basically a 12v drill motor,so one is + and one -,are you saying there are 4 wires coming off the pump going to the module or you are not sure what colours they are and only 2,thanks

You are correct, there are only two wires ,
The module just reverses the polarity for the opposite direction.
What I meant was, as in the photo, one wire looks to be blue and black striped, and the other wire looks green and black striped, but I can't make out if there is also a white stripe as well.

Wouldn't mind but it costs me to host pictures on Flikr for here and they don't show up reliably anymore

hi,chaps i can confirm the two wires that go to the pump are accesible from behind the small grill behind the passenger seat, the one in my hand goes to the pump, easy enough to put 12v across them to confirm your pump is dead or alive,in my case dead !!.
i would put the roof slightly open as you dont want the pump trying to force the roof shut, when it is already shut,if you connect the wires up in that order,if you know what i mean, cheers all

In that case you can give the wiring a good pull to see if they will release, knowing that as a last resort you can reroute two new wires if they snap

Don't show @gookah that, he has just fitted something similar to his gates and garage door which are controlled by phone and also Alexa. I've told him that I want him to work out how to get Alexa to be able to open and close the roof on my car. It won't be long before he's onto it I reckon.

I spotted it already, but being bluetooth you have to be in range which was no good for my garage and gates. I need to open and close them from Cape Verde.

Besides now I have IFTTT on my phone so when I get in range of home, the gates open automatically.... but I am not showing you how I did that.....

Piece of cake

"Alexa"

"tell lazy git David, to open his own feckin roof "

hi chaps, update on the motor relocation,
so i managed to pull the motor and plastic housing into the boot, but had to cut the 2 electrical wires to allow it to come to where i could access it with my trusty angle grinder and cut the plastic bottom off.
i could then push the bottom of the motor upwards holding the bottom half of the casing, this then forced the top of the casing off revealing the pump and motor.
i detached the motor by undoing the 2 allen bolts, putting 12v across it,it was dead and white smoke came out of it,anyway decided to take it apart
holding it in a vice i managed to get the end/bearing plate out by hitting it upwards with a screwdriver,it is crimped to the casing, when that is out you can get the plastic/brush plate out,i gave this a good clean with wd40,brushes etc looked fine.
i then removed the armature and shaft, this was basically jammed with chunks of rust etc and shorting out,
a clean up of the inside with scotch brite and hoovering the debris out with a thin tube taped into the nozzle of a dyson,
re oiled the bearings and reassembled.
i had to file the crimps on the casing to get everything back in,tacked the back plate to the casing with a tig welder,to hold every thing together,
put 12v across it and hey presto a working motor, smooth as silk
so reattached motor to pump and rewired it back to the connector behind the passenger seat.
WAS IT GOING TO WORK
pressed the button and the roof unlocked and went down, pressed the up ,roof started to go up,then started to judder and stopped,no flashing red lights nothing.
bugger blown a fuse, but they all checked out
went to start the car and nothing, battery was flat as a fart, after being stood for weeks
30 mins later started car and roof working perfectly, phew, flat battery had thrown me,was thinking control module, sensors all sorts of things, roof completely off etc,so happy days for now
