My TFS has the 2.0 six and my Z300S has the 2.8 six. Thanks , I'll expand my search to include the 2.2 as well.
The 2.0 is my everyday car and although smooth and flexible down to low revs, I do miss that 50bhp sometimes.

You can put whatever badges you like on it. You can splash Maserati badges all over it and no-one can touch you. UK law is only interested if you try to make a living from those badges; ie exploiting someone else's brand for financial gain.Yes I'd like a genuine Maserati 450S but my Z300S which wears "Tridente" badges (which don't say "Maserati")
The Eagle is a very good example of that .On a 20 year old Z3 it really doesn't need much damage to be an insurance write off. Broken bumper, light and a scratched bonnet and it's a write off. All parts the rebody doesn't need anyway.
But if you think you might want to sell one day then I wouldn't go there.
Talking of engines. You could build a Tribute Kobra using a 2.8 a 3.0 or an M and many would still reject it because a cobra just has to be a V8. Should a Tribute Kobra have a V8? So doesn't matter what engine your donor has it'll still be wrong.
My Tribute 507 needs a V8. Not a straight 6
A very good point. So yes personal enjoyment has to be first and for every car purist that nit picks about something there will be 100 people who don't know what it is and think its fantastic.
Ah but the Cobra was based on an AC Ace, which had a 2 litre 4 pot. Shelby took the Ace, shoved a 7 litre Ford Windsor V8 into it and made it the Cobra. AC never made a Cobra until AC was resurrected (many times) in the past decades.Talking of engines. I suppose it comes down to the meaning of the word 'fake' and what it means to the individual. But surely anything that isn't the real item is a fake, however you dress it up?
Tony i used to know a guy years ago was right into kit cars ,rebodies etc a lot of his passion was for the build itself.Fair comment. As you say "Replica" sounds better, but it's still just a fake. This why I can't get my head round the whole point of making a "Look-a-like". Each to his/her own.
Tony.
I agree, weirdly. I can only speak for my reasons and I have learned they are not 'normal' in the strange world of 'kit cars'.Fair comment. I love 'pretty' things, especially when it comes to cars (subjective obviously). I do think the E89 is one of the prettiest cars on the road. The lines, especially in white, are a work of art. We had a white one, now have a blue one which is nice but not as good as Alpine White.Well, I can't fault that. I'm not a Z3 tbh, at the moment I'm with an E89. Can't see me ever having G29, I think I would rather have the Toyota variant.
Tony.
Never thats why we get onam not normal. That I am acutely aware of.
Tribute's most popular body kit. Probably can't make them fast enough (my guess- I haven't spoken to Chris or Dan lately).Well I still love my God-awful Kobra
Sorry. No offence intended!Well I still love my God-awful Kobra
All Aces had a six cylinder engine- AC's own, Bristol or Ford Zephyr.Ah but the Cobra was based on an AC Ace, which had a 2 litre 4 pot.
There must be 100s made. So the question is; where are they all !Tribute's most popular body kit. Probably can't make them fast enough (my guess- I haven't spoken to Chris or Dan lately).
