Zed went in for all the work, today. B4s with Eibach Pro -30mm springs, 10mm spring pads, new bushes incl ARB, braided clutch and brake hoses. Looking forward to picking her up and comparing the difference.

Well what can I say....
I think I’ve found the perfect setup for what I needed. The car not only looks 100% transformed with the slightly wider 10mm rear spacers, but with the B4s, 10mm spring pads and -30mm springs, also rides much tighter but critically without huge bangs and crashes on back roads or over speed bumps. Highly recommended setup.

@inkey$ . I think i've been waiting for this day as long as you have. Been looking forward to this one taking shape and looks the business with the new bits on. Might be swayed by the 10mm pads instead of the 5mm i have ready. There's even a 7.5mm

Haha! Thanks Scooblitz. Honestly, the setup looks and feels perfect. I don’t think I’d want to go any lower and the new 10mm spring pads have helped ensure its more usable. The handling has also improved and feels more planted - but then I also replaced the ARB bushes with Powerflex, so that’s likely to have also helped.@inkey$ . All new braided clutch and brake hoses too, plus finally got around to sorting the seat bushes so no more shifting back and forth in my seat!
For the low cost though, 10mm spring pads could be a good option for you. I’m also guessing my new setup still has some way to settle a little too, so the end result may well be slightly lower still, meaning 10mm was def required.
Next up: possibly a Supersprint backbox. Maybe H&R ARBs. Possibly look at my air filter. Don’t want to go too mad though. Just things that make sense.

The super sprint has a nice range of tones as you go through the rev range and sounds deeper and deeper the hotter it gets.
mines been on the car for about 12yrs and 50k miles now - has developed a rattle from what I suspect is a loose baffle inside it - will get it opened up and welded.

@inkey$ Would not be surprised if the back box was somewhat generic. Perhaps worth taking this along to a local custom exhaust place and get a full stainless system fabricated with this back box. The back box is usually the most expensive item. Perhaps this supersprint with a custom high flow sport-cat-back would be nice. Certainly on my list for 2021. Would guess it would be less than £250 to get this on and some custom bits around it.

Looks pretty similar to mine - just needs a bit of pipe welding on to reach where it should (mine connects mid way under the car, a bit after the cat)
@Scooblitz @Dino D thanks for the advice and photo. I might speak to Zero Exhausts in Ashford. Used him on some custom stuff for my old Z4M coupe and he’s an artist. Here are a couple more pics of the box and connection points.

It was supposed to go in April but delayed of course. He’s super busy with race car so booking months in advance now..
he did a beautiful turbo back system for my 5pot Smax with sports cat and a bypass valve. It was quite a job getting it to be free flow but quiet (being loud as an RS was easy with the bypass valve

Glad to know he’s still doing well as I was last there a good 5 years ago. He fashioned some new exhaust brackets for me after my M exhaust got taken out driving the potholed roads of south London. Took photos for me for my records and remember he had some pretty nice cars in at the time too. Sounds as though I may need to phone for a chat and book something up in a few months!
Update on the Supersprint cat-back pipe refurb and installation. After looking at reviews, I think I‘ve decided to go to a guy called Dean at Pipecraft in Basildon. Gets some pretty good feedback and when I explained what I wanted to do (add an end-pipe and bracket so it fits my midpipe), he said that sounded fine and I’m going to pop over for a chat in the next week or two.
It might sound awful, but at least I’ll be able to return to stock if I need to and have the option to use again in the future or sell on as a complete Supersprint cat-back system.
Other jobs this month include trying to find a relatively cheap storage bag options for the hardtop (any recommendations please drop me a line!), and Grey Zed needs an oil service.
Oh, and I had some recent fun with a 4 inch nail too......easily rectified by a trip to my local tyre Indy. Did provide me with a good opportunity to check on the new suspension, braided hose and spacer setup though

This Friday I’m heading over to Pipecraft in Basildon. After a quick trip over to see Dean last week, we looked at the Supersprint back box and he’s going to mate it to my stock setup at the first pipe bend. Easy to do, easy to return back to stock if needed and roughly an hour of labour.
Looking forward to hearing what sort of difference it makes to things like tick over and over run. Will update once I’ve had the work done.

It’s a well made muffler that is near stock on light throttle opening.
Give it some time to heat up and bed in, they sound very different when cold vs hot.
