Baby Blue - Progress Thread

I definitely haven't posted on here for a while!

I did eventually finish the restoration of the inner sills. I managed to treat all the corrosion and after many many hours I was back to bare metal. Put some 2K etch primer and followed it up with some sprayable seam sealer and some waxoyl to hopefully keep the corrosion at bay.

The widebody rear quarters I had bought were also treated roughly around the same time.

The zed was then sat in the garage or a few years as my next goal was to do a widebody conversion but I struggled to find anytime to work on it.

5 years after the last MOT had expired, I took it in June and it flew through with only one advisory where both the front tyres were worn, I was quite happy with that!

As soon as it had a fresh MOT it was over to the bodyshop to get the car in for a full panel off respray and get the widebody conversion done at the same time!

These are great cars. I bought mine as my first car in 2015 and I've had lots of cars since which I've bought and eventually sold on but the zed is here to stay!

My current daily is an 840i GC with the B58 which is lovely to drive but I love that the zed is the complete opposite, it lacks the refinement, it feels very raw and it doesn't have the fastest 0-60 but that's what I love about it. It never disappoints and l always have a big grin when I do drive it. :coolsteer)

Blimey mate, that's some under taking, it'll have to be a keeper for life that one. Well done pal 👍🏼

Yes. Wow. Great job. Thank you for updating the progress thread and big thank you for keeping your M44 on the road. Too many people don't want to invest time or money in an M44.

It's looking great
Likewise. Love M44 the fact that you are investing time and effort on an M44. Lee’s got my daughter’s M44 on the list for a full refurb in the new year Almost £1000 worthy of parts sitting in the garage. 🤗
