I think I'm rushing Russell a bit . I'm poring over the photos in the handle thread working out how it goes together etc.Well get them fitted then. Chop Chop. No time for chatting on internet forums.
They are operated similar to the others he sells. It will be obvious when you get the bits.I think I'm rushing Russell a bit . I'm poring over the photos in the handle thread working out how it goes together etc.
Sorry. Don't know. Post I saw about that wire-on-battery trick didn't mention there being a difference.Question: I've seen the post about running a wire from the connector behind the glovebox to the battery, I'm not sure whether this would be for pre or post facelift cars. Before I start pulling things apart - would disconnecting the battery for a bit work?
No I didn't get the door card on in the end so I put it to one side. I can get my hand inside and there doesn't seem to be any tightness on the cable - it worked the first 10 times without a problem.Sorry. Don't know. Post I saw about that wire-on-battery trick didn't mention there being a difference.
So the door card is on and you can't get a hand inside to see if you can loosen the pull-cable to the lock? Did you fit the pull-cable too tight?
Yeah, tried that, next step is to try unhooking the cable from the new handle but I don't think thats restricting the movement. Of course I can't get much off until I can open the doorThat lever in the door. The one that, people say, causes the deadlock. Get your hand in and push it back (towards the inside of the car). Make sure it's all the way back. I think there's a return spring inside the catch but not very strong. Maybe the 'pull-cable' method needs an additional return spring behind that lever.
Although I'd still be v interested in knowing if that wire-on-battery works.
Do you think it was tension on the cable that caused it? You said it didn't feel tight.Ok, got the cable off and the door opened. Have tried moving the attachment point forward to get a bit of play, put it back on and it's opened a few times. Now to put things back together and start the next door
Yes, I think it was user error. I think it was probably borderline and when I tightened the bolts at the bottom of the door it moved it just enough to stop.Do you think it was tension on the cable that caused it? You said it didn't feel tight.
Weird ones?Well a couple of weird ones on the MOT, but it's all done and on the road now
Weird ones?
I like those wheels on the car, a real Restomod touch.Finish off the door handles, fix the weather strips and ready for a summer of top down funView attachment 312171
