I used the rear side trim of a Triumph Herald.
it tapers to a point from the front and the rear edge is nicely rounded for the back end. 3M tape holds it in place

I posted the question after seeing the attached picture while doing my own research.
Yes. That's what I'm aiming for. My bonnet bulge is lower and around 3" further back so that kind of trim would work I think.

Maybe a car jumble will turn up something that could be modified, are those grp bumpers or has anyone found chrome bumpers that will fit this kit?

How about making it using alloy? I'm currently making it using a 2t angle. These are the leftover ingredients from making the side steps.
I will look around for a piece from a different car.

But first I will try to make it if I can. I have an old alu bumper and think I can cut a piece out.

All that was done with the old angle grinder. Now to get out the hand files and do some finer shaping.

Still a bit more to do. Couple bumps in the bottom surface. Thinking about a thin grommet under it maybe. Not sure yet how to attach it so it doesn't come off and go bouncing down the motorway. Maybe small screws from underneath.

It looks a cracking job so far :thumbsup: .

It looks thick enough to take an M4 (8mm A/F nut) or, at a push M5 (10mm A/F nut) thread, so I would use two, maybe three studs, with washers and nylocs. Clearance holes 0.5mm larger than the thread will allow for alignment.

I wouldn't use bolts, as the thread may strip inside the trim.

Yeah. Gonna put two M4 studs in it.

It polished up nice. Wondering if I should laquer it or maybe that'll look naff when the laquer gets chipped. The alu should stay nice if polished now and then. Shouldn't it?

I laquered the aluminium inserts on my dashboard, but I scoured them first. They are fine. I don't know how polished ally would look when lacquered.

Fettling a door using my big flat sander and thanking my lucky stars that the door panel is so flat and . . . No. Wait. Flat isn't a good thing.

It really is slab sided.

Not cheap but the yellow one is very nicely presented.
Blue one looks good as well.
Looks as if they've been built to sell- not diy projects.
