OK update. My neighbour tonight has changed the injector. The old one came straight out no problem and the new one in. Didn't need coding and the car is running superbly. All the power is back and believe it or not it's cured the rumble which we'd all decided was prop related! I can't believe it! Neighbour says it's because the car was running on 3 cylinders and was struggling causing the entire car to vibrate.
Just need to get all the underside steam cleaned now due to large amounts of diesel running down the back of the block. (Any ideas who does that?)
Cheers for now.

A happy for once Grumpy! :)
Sean who did my decontamination on both cars does it! Sean at: Support @f5detailing.com. JIM

Just caught up with this thread Dave. Great news she's fixed, for little money as well. Bonus, more fuel for Reggie:thumbsup:

OK we've been up to the horse this morning in Jues car and guess what.......yep the vibration is back! Not to the same level as yet but I'm sure it will start to develop. I've removed the engine cover and there is damp around injectors 1 and 3. Going to run it without the cover on for a while and keep an eye on it. I give up! :arghh:

I know you probably won't want to hear this is, but, at least you know what it is and what the fix is.
Having done one already and despite the expense, would it make sense and have the other three done all together?
Sounds like we need an injection specialist (with all the knowledge and equipment) to join the throng to make a Zed Shed Squirt division (no sniggering please =))).

Ok so life has crashed down upon us once again! F******* cars! Jues Sorento has been playing up again, same symptoms as before and what I thought was diesel at the base of injector 2.
Ordered another injector off eBay and today my neighbour who is a diesel fitter went to fit it for me rang me as we were out at my parents to tell me that what i thought was diesel at the injector base was actually oil.
He has then continued to tell me that injector 2 isn't seated in the head and has risen up, this is allowing oil to foul the injector hence the same symptoms as the original failed injector but is also allowing oil to get up the side and out the top. It is not an easy or cheap fix to sort so after talking to him he has said we are not to run the car as it can have catastrophic results. He has done what he can as a temporary fix so we can get shot of it. Car has been nothing but trouble since day one but for me I'm not prepared to plough anymore money into it. It will have to go to the block as we can't sell it privately as it is vibrating again when under power.
So once sold the search will have to start again. Oh joy! :arghh:

It'll improve mate when it's gone and we hopefully get something decent! :):)
Yeah, as you well know from your time in the trade it's a minefield out there. Lots of quality to though.

Yeah it is Andy. Don't enjoy it anymore. Used to love the buzz of hunting down and enjoying a new car. Now days I just find it a complete pain in the ass! More than happy to do the general looking after of a car but I do like something to just start, stop and go these days.

We may have some light at the end of the tunnel. A seal that holds the injector in has failed causing the piston to knock it out the top of the head, in turn oil has got up the side of the injector going all over the engine bay leaving a right mess. My neighbour has looked into it today and can do something with a tap and dye kit to reseat the injector. He thinks we have just caught it early enough not to do further damage to the engine. He's now confident he can repair it at a sensible figure so were going ahead. If it runs as it should after this Jue wants to hang on to it and give it another go. Personally I want to burn it on the stake but it's not my car!

Being a mechanical 'tard mate it's difficult to comment expertly, however, back in the 80's I had an Open Ascona 1.6s GT Sport that had a cross threaded sparkplug, I had a mechanic on the base weave his magic with a tap and dye kit. Fixed it then promptly told me to get rid. No idea why but I did.

If it's a simple matter of rethreading a hole then for sure go for it! The oil all around is more a PITA than a problem so hoping this works out for you and Julia but your diesel fitter will be able to give you the best advice following the retap! GL. JIM

Is it possible to retap the thread without taking the head off?
How do you stop bits falling into the cylinder?
