It's probably something simple Dave. Back when I were a lad and learning a bit of car mechanics from my uncles it was drilled into me to refit parts exactly the way they were removed.

Example, if you remove the drive shafts / prop shaft to attend to a clutch or gearbox job or whatever, then I was told to mark the parts so that they went back in exactly the right place.

May be your car has had a bit of work done to it prior to you buying it and just may be the mechanic hasn't followed this rule ? A misaligned prop shaft could induce excessive vibration, however if the problem has only just arisen the chances are it's a worn bearing of some description and as @t-tony has already suggested the prop shaft bearing is a good bet.
Cheers Gary. Going to do some tests when I get a breath over the next few days. General consensus seem so be prop related.

While you're checking the drive line look to see if there's any spot(s) where welded on balance weights have been dislodged. Had that problem on a ford 4x4 and took forever to find until they tried rebalancing. JIM

Ok eventually we get time to look further into the prop issue. It's looking like the donut. My neighbour is going to do it with me when we get a minute between us. He too works silly hours.

We now have a lack of power issue. It chugs on tickover and there is no power until the turbo kicks in and then it isn't great compared to what it should perform like. It's a 170bhp diesel so should pull well.
I was advised to change the fuel filter which I have done this afternoon as it could well be blocked. So I've done that and the air filter and it looked liked they hadn't been changed in years but no change to the performance.
I decided to take the top engine cover off to have a look and found a puddle around one of the injectors.
I ran the car to see if the flexi pipe above had a split but nothing came out so starting pulling the electrical connectors off one at a time to see if there was any change in the running. Pulled no3 off which is the one with the puddle and nothing happened.. So it's now got to go in and have the injector repaired. I'm sooooooo happy. :arghh:

Has it got an inter-cooler Dave? Just been down to our Steve's and his X-type was poorly and after having the under tray off to look for a split boost pipe I found that the jubilee clip had rotted away and the pipe had "blown off' from the inter-cooler. Cheap fix, unlike Abbie's car three days before we went on holiday when the boost pipe split it cost £120.

Ooh erm er ohh haven't a clue Tony! It's a Kia Sorento 2.5 crdi. When I pulled no1 and 2 connectors off the revs dropped and it ran poorly. When I pulled no3 off it made no difference thus it ain't doing out. Full of good luck at the moment lol! :bored:

Are you really really impressed with my mechanical knowledge Dad! :D. Ye looks like it doesn't it. How much can I expect to pay to have an injector repaired?

Probably need to prove the injector is itself knackered before you contemplate changing it. It could Have a blocked fuel line or even the injector is stuck open. Can you smell in burnt diesel?
Speak to Atkins on Hermitage Way.

I've been told to go to Gee diesels in Hucknall Ian. A neighbours father has just had a full new set of injectors on his Ssang Yong (ML engine) and they billed him £2000! Way out my budget. No there's no smell of diesel mate.

The hardest thing is some times getting the injector out of the cylinder head, especially if it's been leaking for a while as carbon builds up around where it fits in the head. Common rail Diesel engines rarely suffer with fuel supply problems at the injector as the rail feeds them all. Most likely it is stuck. Looked on eBay and prices vary around £100. Code read is first port of call to see what is happening.

Will it limp as far as Hucknall?
£2k is incedibly steep. Was that the gold plated version?
I'd expect £80-£100 per injector plus fitting tops for yours.
