I thought the idea of a valet key was it had limited use. You could leave the car with the valet key at the garage and they could not unlock glove boxes ect so you could leave your personal belongings in there.

Well, I've just been out and tried the plastic key, and yes indeed it works. Guess that'll going in my wallet, then. Just like BMW designed it for. Bit flimsy but not for regular use, just for emergencies.
