It's always an interesting day when you drop in man, and thanks for the test blast it drives (and sounds) so very sorted. It really has come a huge way since we first saw it, and it's some of the smaller touches which really makes the car. The Sparco seats have fixed the horrendous seating position that ruins the drive. Can honestly say this is one of my favourite Z3s - although not so much to work on with all the crud underneath it :D
If you need more inspiration just pop on down to Kent and pick it up for a blast anytime, you’ll just need to fuel it :ymdevil:

Once I work out how to store the car on it’s roof I can deal with the crud =))

Give it go, won’t take you long now you know way hour around these.
I wonder if the torsen gears can can be swapped over from one to the other...or is it just the final drive ‘pinion’ thing that determines the ratio, ie everything else remains the same so swap that over?

Yes it the number of teeth on the pinion gear, which drives the crown wheel (the large gear inside the Diff.) which determines the ratio. That is how many turns of the pinion to turn the the crown wheel one complete revolution.

It won’t make a huge difference with road driving you guys do. Obviously keep hold of the 3.15 ratio diff. No harm in running the 3.38 diff to experience it.

P.S no shafts or prop needed. We did a straight swap.

Do you just drop the diff once the exhaust is out the way, does the angle allow the half shafts to come out

We unbolted the shocks and removed the springs for access. Undone the drive shafts they just hang out the way. Undo the prop nuts. Remove the diff bolt to allow the subframe to tilt back. You can then access the 4 bolts on top holding the diff up. Access is crap so I crack them using a double spanner method then use a ratchet spanner to do the rest. Getting those 4 bolts back in after is a right ball ache but bare with it :)

Been there, done that, fiddly job, patience required. I cut a 3/8" drive socket really shallow so it just grips the bolt head. made life easier.

Just to add if you don’t already know, diff oil smells like cat p*ss. Actually more like lion p*ss.
Horrible, don’t get in on you shed floor, it stinks!
Trying to soak it up with cardboard and paper right now before I can re enter :hungover:
