I had a go with the new camera, from light polluted skies and a target low on the morning horizon, about the worst combo there could be. But I,m happy with the thing could be capable of without the setbacks, and my lousy polar alignment because I cant see the pole from my yard..

Makes you wonder eh? Although the Universe is under no obligation to make sense to us, yet we still try to understand.
What if our reason of existence is to just observe?
What if the meaning of life is to just live?

We find that we live on an insignificant planet of a humdrum star lost in a galaxy tucked away in some forgotten corner of a universe in which there are far more galaxies than people.

So why do we consider our existence so valuable?

Because, of all creatures, we are the only ones who can look at the night sky and wonder what is out there.

And then go grab a beer and check that fine piece of a$$ that just walked in and fantasise we’d hit that so hard that if someone pulled us out they'd become the king of England.

Cheers mate. You made me think again….

You are welcome my friend, Interest of note, that M31 as imaged is heading toward us at about 110km per second, so in 2.5 billion years or so, we can have a really good look at it. Its quite a bit bigger than our one, and could make a bit of a mess.... Gravity sucks, even over immense distance..

So last night I had another go under a full moon, with light pollution, and coastal haze, got the autoguider running sweet and cooled the camera down to 0 degrees, Had a go at a difficult target under adverse conditions. M13, and surprisingly got NGC6207 and IC4617 as well, these are galaxies, the later is only just visible if you know where to look.. Overall, I'm happy with how it all works..

By no means a small camera, here it is next to its sibling that tops out at 2 meter Optical Zoom, The extra meter is great for birding, feathered ones Zephyr, before you start.. ;)..

Since you asked,. Whilst the images are about as good as you can get from a 16mp sensor that some cellphones beat. The big telescope bolted to the front of it makes it, No need to carry around 10kgs of lenses and other gear. Just a 1.5 kg does it all, and it does do everything very well, but nothing brilliantly. Not so long ago now when all the big manufacturers were making more and more impressive super zooms, Nikon stepped up with the P900, the one I regrettably gave my wife, with a 2000mm zoom, none of the other manufacturers came close, but in a final gesture of up your'smanship they bought out the P1000 with 3000mm zoom. I had been searching for one for a while as they are now discontinued. I'm happy to have found this one, It's a keeper for birding..

Hm. I understand.
I just use an iPhone 15 with an app called Camera+ so not much of a high end photographer.
But it does fhe job. View attachment 313653
I classify myself as an enthusiastic amateur, A good photo does not require bags of expensive kit, neither does a good photographer. As is evident by some of yours and others images taken with a phone

Long gone are the days of going to Boots excited and filled with expectation at viewing your newly developed 36 holiday snaps.

Half of them you threw away as Aunt Maude's head was missing or the hotel was out of focus.
