I have been around the BMW/Zed scene for nearly 10 years and been very active on the forums, so I'll try and give you a potted history of UK Zed forumsJonttt said:If your not already aware .net went through a very similar thing once before with a break away group of disgruntled users setting up a rival site, it survived and probably will again though it remains to be seen if it will ever be updated. It is what it is and that's the way I treat it.
.
When I first joined .net it was a great forum, it even used to organize weekend cruises in the Lake District. I made a number of friends, which I still have contact with
The problems started when the Z4 came out - Z4um was founded and stole a march on .net, catering for the new model.
Initially there was a lot of animosity from .net. However, people joined and enjoyed both forums
Z4um arranged a number of weekends, to which everyone was invited - Highlander weekends, H1 - H5, Wales
I don't know the reasons why Z4um folded, but I do know huge efforts were made to keep it going.
Z4-Forum was the successor to Z4um and obviously caters for the Z4, not having a Z4 I've not joined up
Zed-Cars was the off-shoot for the ones amongst us who enjoyed the driving weekends.
Zed-Cars arranged a number of weekends, to which everyone was invited - Peak District, Wales, Cheddar and even an exclusive Track Day at Llandow
Despite what is said on .net Zed-Cars is still alive - it may not be very busy traffic wise and that is due to members family commitments and the use of Facebook etc. for banter.
Also, despite the Zed in the name a lot of the members have moved on to other cars - as the forum title says "A forum for owners (past and present) of Zed Cars".
You may have seen the Zmas Christmas Party advertised on .net - that was organized by Carrie, one of our Steering Group
We may also be looking at organizing weekend meet/s in 2012
ZRoadster.org - well we're here
So hopefully that gives you Zed forums history

I used to be a Mod on .net and an Admin on Zed-Cars - Tim and I fell out when I was asked to choose between one or the other.
Obviously, the Admin role is preferable, but I could also see from discussions in the Mod forums the difference in management styles, so my decision was easy.
Since leaving .net, it has been up and down more times than a whore's knickers. e.g about 4 years ago, just after I left as a Mod, it was hacked by a Turkish hacker and graffitied with anti-Christian slogans (now for the familiar story) it remained like that for 7 weeks because no one was able to get hold of the Site Owner!!!

Apologies for the long post, but I hope it gives you some insight to the history of (UK) Zed Forums
Apologies also to Jonttt for quoting you, but it gave me a good lead in for the post
I get great enjoyment from my Z3 and I like to see others get the same through clubs and forums - I'll contribute and help out where I can.
What I do dislike is seeing people being taken for mugs and not getting value for money - then getting ignored when you query this :-l
