I took my nearside front wing off today and it had a small area of perforation which I was going to weld up, I gave Europarts a ring and a new one is only £29.90 + Vat, it will be with me tomorrow.
That's a very good price.I took my nearside front wing off today and it had a small area of perforation which I was going to weld up, I gave Europarts a ring and a new one is only £29.90 + Vat, it will be with me tomorrow.
The strange thing is that they only list the ns front wingThat's a very good price.
I saw an OEM one for 50quid last year on eBay and grabbed it thinking its a bargain!
Didn't expect it to come down in price.
Now if only they did the side sills at similar prices..
Over the weekend I managed to meet up with Andy, to be honest I was expecting an old bloke (I'm 44 ) with a flat cap to great me at the door, so i was pleasantly surprised when Andy opened the door .Good to see you today, hope you made it back to work in time!
Nice oneQuick update on progress.
I have managed to temporarily repair my of O/S headlight, a bit of fine mesh and plastic welding will hopefully hold together to get me through the Mot and last till I can get some angel eyes later in the year.
Changed oil, filters ect at the weekend.
Got a coolant leak which I'm hoping is just the expansion tank, but its hard to see untill I pull it all out, £13 new so one on order.
Fun bit today- two new tyres needed due to cracks where the car stood for 5 years.
Could I find the locking wheel nut, had it 4 weeks ago, used it and thought i had put it back in the holder. Checked along the road and drive Spent 3 hrs looking for it in house and garage nowhere
Spoke to local bmw specialist and he said I would have to try to get a replacement from bmw somehow.but they could only do if I took the car to them.
So how to remove without a key - Good old Youtube, 23mm bi hexagonal socket whacked on and off they came luckily, only for my mum to walk 25meters down the road to find the blasted wheel key in the gutter
So , the cars now up on axle stands with the wheels off ready for new rubber to be fitted.
Next will be draining the old fuel out and replacing the fuel filter.tomorrow.
i hope to strip and clean the break calipers as well whilst the wheels are off.
lets hope I dont misplace anything else....

Thx for the advice Jim.@DirtyDog if you haven't already done it, write the number stamped on the backside of one of the wheel locks and keep it safe. That way when you lose your key you just order the correct number key from BMW! HTH JIM
Thx for the advice Jim.
To be honest I hate locking wheel nuts and will be replacing them with standard ones asap.
I think the days of cars being stolen for just the wheels like in the 80/90s are long gone I hope.
On a side note are the standard bolts easy to get?
