Arrived at home today, the C-in-C informs me that my knob is heavy, reassuring :D

Look forward to changing it over next week and to see how it impacts on the driving experience as well as the visual.
Thanks

Just a quick note, the gear knobs may need tightening up again.
It's 50/50 for some reason but it's down to stainless steel grub screws in the aluminium shaft and they need to bed in and ally is much softer so it can take a few adjustments.

Is this why mine keeps coming loose? I've tightened it up a couple of times now and put some thread lock on last time but it's coming loose again.

I put a dab of thread lock on the grub screws on my old one. Big mistake as I had to drill out 2 of 3 screws to remove it :meh:.
So now I've got my one remaining unbroken Allen key in the glove box, in expectation of having to nip them up now and then as I won't be using thread lock again.

It's not the threads coming loose in the indentation that's being made on the shaft and the vibration that dents the ally.

Had mine on a year now and no problems, I think I had to adjust it 4 times.

But yeah don't try and do them up with the force of a thousand men and it's will not solve it. Just a few small nips every now and then will be all it takes.

I've just gone back out after reading this and turns out I haven't used enough thread lock anyway as the screws were loose again. Nipped them back up, will keep an allen key in the car.

@Buckley06 do you turn it and screw the grub screws in a different place each time you re-tighten or keep them in the same position and eventually it will stay tight? I have quite large indentations in the alloy now where I've screwed them in tightly last time.

No keep the screws in the same place, I had to do my SM one twice, its solid now

As about the ally needs to be compressed, plus you would end up with your gear knob he wrong orientation.

Mine is still coming loose :arghh: Kept nipping the screws up over the last couple of weeks must have done it 5/6 times but they still keep coming out. @Buckley06 what size are the grub screws please? I'm going to get some more and try them in it.

Hiya mate, I'm so sorry to hear you are still having problems. :(

They are M4 x 5.0mm pointed grub screws.
Maybe try some flat ended grub screws.
If you are still not happy let me know and I can sort out a refund if you can't use it.

I'm having the same issue with my Storm Motorwerks knob so I don't think its an issue with knob but with the shaft being soft alloy, I have nipped it up 4 times now and noticed today that it has started to rock side to side again, however it won't pull of

Not after a refund, I'm very, very happy with it and it's an awesome piece of kit which I want to keep. As @Sean d says, it's not the knob I think its the alloy shaft itself. Mine has no engraving so it's not a problem if it spins round and I can try a few different positions. I'll try some different grub screws, one way or another I'll get it solid. Just thought someone else may have had another idea on what they did to keep them from coming out.

If anyone else is interested in one of these don't let my experience put anyone off, they are a solid piece of kit and feel great. I would recommend them to anyone

My thinking is that if you keep moving it you are creating the same prblem everytime you move it, my plan is to keep tightening in the same place and eventually the grub screws will bed in as they are pointed
