Well it sat at the garage for 2 and a half weeks, the guy couldn't find a replacement engine for a decent price. Told him to give us a quote to fix the leak which took another few days for them to come back and say they don't want to touch it. @gookah and I went to collect it a few days later to find they had filled the system back up with water so we drove it back and it didn't lose a lot. A tub of K-Seal was added to the system which fixed the leak for a couple of days and we took the spark plugs out and closed the gap which got rid of the judder about 90% of the time. Then the system started leaking again so I put some Radweld plus in it which seemed to stop the leak completely. The engine did sound a bit rough but it was driving loads better and wasn't leaking.

It needed some money spending on it to fix the judder which was most likely spark plugs or a coil pack, it had am oil leak and would need a new water pump in the near future. There were a few other things that needed doing before the next MOT so the decision was made to get rid whilst it runs well. It cleaned up real nice and looked smart, it was actually quite sad seeing it go yesterday and it drove great on the way to the pick up the new one. It got traded in against for this.

Its a nice little car with loads of stuff like cruise control, bluetooth, start-stop, reverse sensors, auto wipers, auto mirrors and free road tax. All stuff the Mini didn't have. Just waiting for a call to say 'I've filled it up with petrol instead of diesel' :nailbiting:

My Mrs. once filled my old Mondeo 1.8 petrol with Diesel. I was not impressed. The time involved draining it, the waste of Diesel and then the added cost of new fuel.:mad:

My friends rented a 30' motorhome and stopped to fill it up with diesel! The friend put the hose into the water supply opening and filled it up!!! Bubbbles everywhere when they decided to add a whole bottle of dish soap in as well, then they thought hey we've got a few bottles of vodka inside so in they went!! Then they turned on the shower and the sinks and filled the holding tank with diesel fuel and vodka. Flushed the system for two weeks but couldn't get rid of the diesel smell. On the final day they remembered the hot water tank which hadn't been emptied so dumped that and refilled with water and took the MH back to the dealer and made a quick getaway before they were found out! Luckily they never heard anything from the rental co. True story!! Don't drink and drive and put diesel into the water supply in a motorhome!!! JIM

and how many miles did you do in it, after the engine was 'dead'?
I reckon new water pump and plugs would have seen it OK. Apparently they would have cost £1700 at that garage, but you get the rest of an engine attached.
About 200, quite good considering it was completely shot.
