The rear diffs can have oil on them but thats not unusual. Also there is a oil pressure release valve that can weep a little. Its not a big job to fix but does create room for negotiation ;-) (its under the manifold, in fact you need a stone cold engine to change it as its so close to the manifold at the bottom of the block).z3cade said:Check list..

Engine noise, (bag of marbles from vanos or diesel sound no good)
Clutch bite point,
Stiffness of clutch,
Gear change,
In 4th start at 1750rpm then floor it, should feel surge around 2200rpm and again around 5000rpm
check oil temp gauge in Center console is working, should start to rise after 10mins of driving
Lastly enjoy the drive
