Anyway @David, back to the Christmas thread. He's been again today and the odds weren't in my favour again. 1 for you, ( an electronic item with cable attached?), 1 for me whoopee! :) and some fishing hooks/lures for my mate at home. So Christmas isn't over yet.

Tony.

If I don't get nuked soon I'll be watching this as I've just about have everything I need, I think. I had a list but it seems it took to walking. Have you got one? I find it hard to read the OEM parts list as I only have an iPhone. JIM

When I went to the UK last June, I was worried about getting through customs. I had made a carrot cake, and stopped at an Italian bakery in South Philly to buy stuff to bring over. i called customs from over here to ask about these things. They said I probably wouldn't have any trouble but couldn't guarantee it. I carried on the goodies and stored them above me. I was the last one to get off the plane because I didn't want anyone to smash into me and crush the boxes I was carrying. It took me forever to find my luggage. When I finally got to customs, everyone else had long gone through. I thought "Oh God, now they just have ME TO PICK ON". I went through the customs doorway, around the corner to a desk and no one was there. I didn't see anyone so I kept walking looking for the customs officer. Before I knew it, I was walking out of the terminal. I never even SAW a customs official. All that worry for nothing. Frankie

Here is a tip @FRANKIE, certain flights are marked for more customs control.
When I used to get to Amsterdam airport with a suitcase full of stuff, Chinees illegal software for example, I would go and get a beer and something to eat and then go through customs with people from a flight, say from Germany or France, never had a problem.

When it's empty the manco (management company) visit regularly to check all is well plus we know several other owners on here who come over at different times from us and we each send emails asking if theirs should be occupied or not so its a peace of mind thing. There is a guy 3 doors up from Wales we know from when we bought it nearly 4 years ago and he is now president of the H.O.A. ( home owners association), a useful man to know!. And then there's the pool guy(s) who come to tend to the pool every week to make sure it's ok. Also the gardening crew who cut the grass (it's left about 4" long here, a different type of grass) and tend the gardens and footpaths etc. it's a really nice division (estate). I wish they would speak English though.:)

You can't do that at Manchester or Orlando though because you get to immigration, then get your bags and then have to go through the customs before you can access anything like a bar or whatever.

Not at AMS Tony. I (we) used to use Privium irisscan and did not need to show our passports.
My mate used to drop me off and follow me through (without a boarding pass) and use my boarding pass to buy duty free.
We would go for a beer and then I would go and get my flight and he would walk out of the airport using his irisscan.
You were vetted by the military police to be able to have the irisscan, we were just playing the game........:D
Oh, and get to know the girls at the information desk, you can check in there as well, saves standing in a queue......;)

I recall from back in the eighties that Schipol Airport was the same. That was my first run in with the aftermath of terrorism. They had blown out the front of the building days before and I'd never seen so many dog patrols with handlers with auto weapons with the safeties off and their finger on or close to the trigger. Quite a shock to see. JIM
