Ian colquhoun ( 2 blue 2.8) mentioned you, something about parts. I had a cheeky drive past looking for your Dakar while I was clearing the grandparents house out in Alston.

He's Ash's uncle.

Hi Ian, I've had it since 2013, with 85K miles, one owner, no major accidents, silver on v
Black leather, 2.5L, Auto. I had
HONESTLY manifested this car with the Law of Attraction; the description I've just given you is EXACTLY EVERYTHING I HAD WANTED IN MY CAR. Unfortunately, like my other two BMW's, they F'ing FALL APART in ways that other cars DO NOT: Both door handles have broken off. The rearview mirror has broken itself OUT OF THE WINDSHIELD. I've been told my window regulators will probably stop working around 100K miles; when I had been at 90k miles, a technician at the dealership had said to me, "Consider yourself LUCKY." BUT, now I am at 125K miles, and both still work(!), but only in the Summer when the heat softens the old grease/lubrication enough for them to move at more than a snail's pace; I use them as little as possible bcuz I do not want them to one day cease working and become stuck when they are have been lowered! I use them very sparingly, just enough to keep things lubricated; obviously, this is important bcuz the driver's side works without issue, but the lonely passenger side CANNOT move in cold weather; obviously, the previous owner had not been married!
So, I m not familiar with ANY references in your message. Had it been directed at me? I have NEVER known an Ash, so I am quite baffled by all of it, esp. because it does not reference the reason I had created it - to discover why the oil had leaked out of my cylinders, and what can I do to ensure it does not happen again? Any thoughys on tjis, or do you know someone who might? I would be grateful for any assistance! Thank you!

Slow window movement can be vastly improved with putting some Silicone Spray down the rubber guides as you work the window up and down. You will be amazed at the difference.

Tony.

Ian occasionally calls round, I'm at the very top of Ambleside, When we are able you should call round, it's always nice to see other Z owners/drivers.

My neighbour opposite regularly pops over as he was interested in my Z, so much so he couldn’t resist and he's gone and bought a really nice one himself (silver), 2 owners FSH and only 60k.

Sure once this lockdown madness is over. We often have runs out with the z3 north east group, you should pop along when permitted.

Now had my Z3 for 2 years next month.

Only done about 600 miles in that time. She now has just over 26k on the clock. Love the analogue driving experience. As a family we have other more modern Beemers including my lovely 523i Touring, which is my work car. She is a 2010 with 67k miles and I am the second owner.

Placed the order for mine in March 1999 with £5200 of options and picked her up 8am on the 1st of September, shes now covered 29k.
Wow, 1 owner from new and only 29k miles, brilliant.

6 years. 69k miles on purchase and now a tad under 104k miles. Another 5 years and she'll be nearly run in

Now competing with my bike so it keeps the miles down a bit though my Z3 is my "go to" vehicle.

Hello folks.
New member here, though not a new zed owner. I bought the zed new in Jun 2002 for Mrs JTM. She stopped driving it after a few years but we couldn't part with it. It is now my daily driver. Though not being driven much lately, even before lockdown, I would probably do a couple of thousand miles a year. Currently has 78k on the clock

Despite the light use, it is starting to show its age. Rusty sills and soft top stitching needing most urgent attention.

Lesser issues being heated seats not working, and recent flood in the boot causing the tilt sensor to corrode and need replacing, and cam position sensor failing.

Anyway, how long have you had your zed? Does it beat 18 years
Hi good to hear from you. Had z3 since 1997 now done couple miles short of 200k but kept it tip top but now found rust from inside sills so some major upkerp in process of being done lol

Estatice! Thats how I feel. I love to drive it but afraid of the speed. Not use to this anymore,
so I'll slowly break myself in.

Only had mine 6 weeks or so. Stumbled over mine, a 1999 2.8 z3 with only one previous owner and just 24k on the clock and fell in love. It’s beautiful and has been meticulously serviced and cared for, serviced like clockwork every 2000 miles at Sytner bmw.

I don’t mind admitting I wasn’t too keen on the z3 back in the day but my, how well they’ve aged. I can’t help but admire it whenever I walk towards it, and for that reason, I can’t remember a car I’ve bought that has given such value in terms of smile to £‘s ratio. What a bargain.

I’ve drove and owned all sorts over the years, the z3 isn’t the fastest, nor is the best handling car I’ve bought but no matter, I’ve fallen very much in love with it in the short time I’ve had it. Love how analogue it feels, and the sound ... hmmmm.

It’s the first car I’ve ever had where Mrs Soap and all of the kids love it as much as I do and I can see me keeping this car for a long time.

Certainly bought it to enjoy and drive as often as possible and one of my first acts of the day is to check the weather report to see if i can take it to work.

I’m getting to work in a great mood (if with very messy hair) this week and it’s all to do with my transport.
