Yeah, I never imagined the problems that shipping abroad would cause to most sellers. Cracking wheels, they look much better than the regular 8.5x17!
I talk with Stevie a lot and you have been a huge help in making it happen .:scorecard:
Down side is now i have to give Stevie back his 7.5 / 8.5 set which have been living on my Orinoco for the last last 6 months 😞.
But have sorted another set of staggered 17 so i don't have to put the standard 16 style 42 back on a i felt the rear 225 tyre is not enough for the 2.8.
Stephen.

Cant wait to see the fitted look once they are ready to go on.

Don't worry @Stevo7682 there are many other rims that go well with dakar yellow. Styling 78 for example, a great combination
I have style 68 on the Dakar.
Had these on the Orinoco green zed.

Now have a set of style 18 on the Orinoco which will suffice for now.
Stephen.

New shoes day and new sensors on the front fitted which has fixed the ABS issue.

Wheels have been sometime in the making. 1st fit before I go wild with tyres and refurbs. 17x8.5j et 41 and 17x9j et26 bbs style 42.

Hard to see it but a little extra dish all round.

The post that no one ever wants to write...

IMG_20231118_161128.jpg

The car traded it's life for mine today. In very poor road conditions, I lost traction in the rear, tried to bring it back but at 65-70mph, I had no chance. Full 360 spin via a concrete wall in the central reservation on a busy motorway.

IMG_20231118_161134.jpg

I walked away without a scratch and no one else was involved. I have to be thankful for that as things could have been so much worse.

It was my fault. The road conditions were poor and I should have known better. Z3s can be tricky, evenmore so in wet weather.

It's hard to say what going to happen to the car. It's almost certainly going to be written off. Damage isn't as bad as it should be for the level of crash I had today.

If I can get it back from the insurers and is repairable (non structural) , I'll be looking to try and get it back on the road.

Thankfully you walked away mate. Shame about the car but as everyone says it can be repaired or replaced. I hope you don't hurt too much in the morning. Take care.

Tony.

Thanks Tony. I'm unscathed without so much as a seat belt bruise. Not a mark.

See what lies ahead for the car. So much work and new parts have gone into it that's it's hard to see past anything other than getting it back.

Gutted for you, but also relieved for you that you are safe. Crashing at that speed is no fun at all, especially in something as small as a Z3 - positively terrifying!

Well .... it'll keep you busy for the next few months thats for sure.

s***! Sorry to see this. Good to read you're OK, let's hope they let you buy the car back as you've clearly put so much into it 🤞🏼

Blimey Stevie that's a shocker, but as everyone has said pleased you're ok. I bet you'll be a bit sore this morning though. Hopefully you'll be able to get your Zed back on the road. Good luck.

The dust has settled.

After a bit difficulty getting the car out of the recovery, she's now with @Stevo7682. After an assessment, the car is at a crossroads. It can be fixed, it could go back on the road and be usable but has incurred more damage in the hands of the recovery company who have been rough with it in their possesion. Forklift.

The exhaust has been snapped behind the back box, the rear bumper has been dragged along the ground. The front damage has been made worse and a few other forklift related injuries as well as the damage I have caused in the crash.

A couple weeks back, a cosmos 2.8 came up on FB marketplace for scrap. With stevos help, we went part picking and picked up some bits that could help get it road worthy again. The car was scrapped the next day so managed to get in quickly and got a decent haul for reasonable money.

The current plan is to get it road worthy whilst keeping my eye out for another one, Ideally the same colour.

Scrolled through my progress thread and it's horrible knowing that the car is in such bad shape after all the work that's been done. I reckon I wasn't too far away from having the 'vision' complete. Worse, that it was my fault and actions that have resulted in this situation.

The Phoenix may rise from the ashes but scarred, hurt and irreversibly damaged.

Terribly sad to read this.

Glad you ok.

Good cars are never around when are looking but hang in there!

I've been looking and finding this out. If I wasn't so fussy it'd be easier.

It's amazing what you can walk away from.

I’ve just been reading through your thread and can see all the work you and Stevo had put in to that car, you must be devastated after the crash, but glad to hear you’re okay.
I’ve been looking at a few cars on all the sites and it is difficult to find a good one, so hopefully you get something that works for you.
