Hybrid will take over first and in 5-10 years we will all be electric. with the 17 year olds driving a 3 second Saxo-E as their first cars.

They're quoting $150.000 for the truck too Pete, I would think that compares pretty favourably with a diesel truck and the extra Tech built into the Electric ones is quite impressive I think. The acceleration is scary, I hope the stopping power is equally good, apparently that is where they get most of the "re-charge" .

Lots of cars recover energy through braking already. Don't know how much you get from stopping many tons though.

That's why they won't carry 40 tons like Euro trucks. Most carry only 25 tons. But that's how they are now anyway.

500 mile range, and fast chargers will be available at service stations where the tachos tell the driver they have to rest and recharge.

Plus how much savings will there be versus the road tax on lorries now. (that is until the HMRC catch up)

As a non smoker i appreciate all the tax smokers pay. If we reduce the amount of tax from petrol and diesel its got to come from somewhere so look out for the electricity Tax?
