Yup, remember the rush to diesel over here when the govt told us to and gave big incentives as well. The planets fudged so it doesn't really make much difference what we drive...

Let's wait and see what Mr Hammond has to say. The Daily Mail isn't always the most accurate source of news.:D We bought a new diesel in 2011 and it looks like we will have to drive it until it falls to pieces as the resale market value has fallen through the floor. Dealers must have loads of diesel cars that they can't shift.

Dealers will have forecourts full of diesels they can't sell and trade-in values will collapse so stopping people from buying new.
The leasing companies will not get back the value they were expecting when diesel cars are returned which will make that sector more difficult. A perfect storm.
Many will just suck up the fuel tax and keep their old diesel until it falls off the road.

I have valued my diesel on webuyanycar and the value has not fallen through the floor just yet but I expect it will eventually. Can we expect resignations over this scandal. No, but touching a reporters knee a decade ago gets you your P45. Political correctness rules, real issues of incompetence are whitewashed over. In the words of Fraser, "We're doomed...doomed I tell you".

Big Storm in a tea cup... Lets face it.. its all about control and who can we 'milk' next to pay our big bonus and pensions. Amazing that if you get to be an MP for two terms you get a pension related to your final salary. Yet if you work for a company for 30 years.. like a few of the deep seam coal miners have for 30 years they get 12 weeks pay.... How does that work ?? If you re an MEP and you voted to leave the EU on Brexit you get a big golden handshake to make sure you are ok too. Somethings not right here.. Oh and the next tax will be in internet usage as it encourages contempt. :ymdevil:=))

MPs who lost the seat a couple of years ago received massive payoffs ,for
3 month after loosing they got full pay and expenses , then payment that went over £55,000 in some cases--- then of course they had employed the other half , so they also got a nice chunk of redunency When they regained the seat in this years election, the rule restricting employing other half did not apply to them.
It does not matter which party it's all nooses in the trough

The meat industry produces more harmful gasses than the entire transport industry yet nothing is targeted more than the road user.
When electric cars are the norm they will have to find a new way to recoup all that lost fuel and road tax

Wait until @t-tony has had his Christmas dinner, he should be taxed for that.....
Brussells sprouts and stuffing. Lethal combination. 50 miles/litre though!

I got a Volvo diesel just under 4 years ago, with the good MPG, road tax £20py and fuel price was lower than petrol at the time.

I sold it last month on a private sale and managed to get 25% above book price for it, ok it had low mileage and was top of the range model

But now replaced with a petrol

I have always said that petrol is for cars, diesel for trucks. Self righteousness is a wonderful thing. Having never owned an oil burner I am very happy.:):ymdevil:
PS, electric is for lighting, heating and computers, not cars - I hope to be proved right again in the future. Also hate smart arses:)

Long time I was waiting for that.
The only good diesel is the non euro, running on used cooking oil!:)

No one told anyone to buy anything ... just encouraged it
Actively "encouraged" through taxation bribery I would add. Another of the Blair of eras finest moments.
