Whipped out my drivers seat last week to install new bushes due to slight movement. I was so careful after all the stories on here of scratching this and that.
Anyway I got them out without a problem to find the bushes were fine, already done before I owned the car.
So back went the seat and bloody snapped the seat belt guide! All for nothing! Gutted
Oops!
You can put it down to practice (getting the seat in and out). Is it rocking? Could be the sear not attached to the base properly then.

Is the belt guide totally snapped or can it be repaired with one of those clips that goes over and keeps it together. Someone was making some rally good ones, think they are on eBay.

I’ve ordered a new guide which I will be fitting next week. There’s no way I can leave it in and patched up.
Seat will be out again for another look!

When I was looking at the bushes one of the kebabs wouldn’t come out, something is catching in the slider so only really checked one side. I’m guessing both were done but I’m worried if I force it then I will make thinks worse and end up chucking the seat in the corner and having a big old sulk

After reading that second paragraph, it occured to me that aside from having an initial welcoming to the forum, we should institute a second welcoming once a new forum member has reached his first occurance of Z frustration.............hmmmmmmmmm......Frankie

So, by hanging out with this sort of company I can be sure of more misery? Not the most compelling of arguments.
I look at it this way: The misery evolves from the frustration of trying to perform a repair task and not being able to proceed for some reason. We go to the forum to voice the problem where others commiserate with us. Others, having experienced the same frustration with any particular proceedure, used that frustration to seek and discover solutions that we ourselves might not have thought of. Sometimes they are very simple such as the existing thread where someone was working on their brake calipers and couldn't get to one of the bolts and someone on the forum suggested that they turn the wheel for better access. I don't like misery or frustration but one of the reasons I'm here is to seek someone who went through a problem and came out with a better solution than I could think of.............Frankie

That's why I always ask "Where are you located" someone some where is close by.

It is a pity that BMW did not fit a RAID steering wheel as original equipment - along with the short gear lever it is the best thing I have ever added to the car! The thought police get excited that it lacks a BMW badge and has a Ford airbag, but I tend to look through the windscreen rather than basking in the glory of BMW! I paid about £200 for it a long time ago from the manufacturer, as prices in the UK were crazy - they were very obliging when we paid them a visit and had a tour.

Here is mine.
Christmas week I decided to correct all the leaks and replace all fluids in our 01 Z3 3.0.
Found the major leak up front was everything power steering, except the rack.
I ordered all the hoses, seals and a new reservoir . Cleaned everything up and installed all new parts.
Fast forward to last week, the pressure hose are both leaking at the crimp.
Talked with a local shop that does high pressure hoses, the fact they are not blowing off,but leaking, means they are over crimped.

I’m reading a lot of threads as a prospective owner. Didn’t realise how long ago the original butyl/disc backing/ABS saga happened!
I had the fun of dealing with door seals on my Alpina B3 coupe (E46), they contain a wire for the airbags and are another sticky horrific mess to deal with- of course extremely expensive new from BMW, hence messing around with butyl tape.
If any online guide says a job takes 2 hours, I know that’s my weekend gone and 3 months’ worth of swear words.

I like the term you used in your post "over crimped". It so closely defines the feeling I have when I'm working on the car and things aren't going so well.........Frankie
