and you're on the way directly to that MOT station.
Or going directly home after the test. However, if it fails the test you could still be guilty of driving a car with known defects.

Tony.

ps. The word "directly" means that you can't call at Morrissons and do your weekly shop on the way home.;)

What a pity it's failed it's MOT, perhaps someone will be able to negotiate the price down a bit more. Perhaps Liam might be able to shed some light on the problem.

I wouldn't have thought so, but I think this is one for you @t-tony
It cannot be driven on a public highway without a current mot even if it's within the trade. When I had my own pitch I was spot checked to make sure ALL cars on sale were in "a roadworthy state". They have to have a valid mot, insurance and in the case of no tax must be driven on trade plates which limit the speed to 50mph regardless of the speed limit. No car can stand on sale with a defective tyre etc incase a customer requests a test drive instantly.

You used to be able to run recovery vehicles on trade plates legally too until that loop hole was closed years ago.

Really?

I've had plates since 1999 and never knew about that, I do around 10,000 miles per year on them so I'd better find out.

How do you do that kind of mileage on trade plates?

Tony.

That was the rules when I had mine back in early 2000's.

They are having the age old problem with that car. No dealer wants a car for more than 90 days and they don't really like them hanging around that long. The problem occurs when people keep seeing the same car sat there week in week out either through passing or online.
Potential buyers see it dropping and dropping further and then the doubt sets in as to why it's been there so long. Parkway have got there leg stuck in it now. I would guess with what it was originally up for and the price it is now he is blowing money on it. They have a second site at the top end of Mansfield now and I've not seen it at Edwinstowe so assume he's moves it to the other site. Problem is its still sat on his website. Best thing he can do is to cut his losses and move it on to a new audience somewhere else.

I go out and do some buying for some of my local dealers, normally long distance or they would just do it themselves.

Train there, car back if it was worth buying.

Need to know if this 50mph limit is enforced, any Police officers on here?

He'd be better stopping the adverts and readvertising it in April.

The 90 day stock policy is madness, but as you say, adopted by many dealers, especially the main dealers.

When I was a buyer for a Renault main dealer I would be standing at the auction watching the overage stock go through whilst also trying to pick out some new stuff.

Never made sense to me.

They don't like watching the book drop each month. Sending the salesman out to knock £100 off cos they think that will sell the car! Stock rotation is the bible as you will well know mate.
