Cat S '98 Z3 M Roadster repair

I've found one!!! Not sure I can afford this though.... 😂😂😂

Think I'll keep looking....

Does that come with the car attached =))

Fully refurbed pair with knuckles. Might be worth sending a message.

Cheers for that - They certainly look the part.... I might just send them a PM...!

So, after weeks of looking, I have managed to acquire a set of trailing arms along with other associated parts, all refurbed by the seller on eBay.

Luckily (I hope), we don't need the sub frame.

I had another local specialist look at it - Newhall BMW in Sheffield - and he thinks the subframe is fine. Shame I couldn't just replace one trailing arm to keep the cost down, but they came as a pair and are in such good condition, I will get them both fitted then look to make something back on the parts that come off.

(if anyone needs a genuine Z3M trailing arm, the near side one will be going up for sale soon.....)

Dropped her off yesterday and whilst in, she's also having the front track rods and ends sorted (I think they took a shunt too) and a misfire sorted on the engine.... (fingers crossed just a spark plug or coil) - plus the MOT needs doing 🤞...

Hopefully will get her back at the end of the week, without too much more expense - just as the snow arrives!!!! 😩

Well - it took longer than I was hoping but lockdowns and Christmas don't help! She is finally back.

Both rear trailing arms replaced along with the refurbished drive shafts that came with them. The front track rods and ends were swopped for new ones, the mis-fire needed a new coil, the steering was re-aligned, and they also stripped off the rear wheel arch liners whilst it was on the lift, to clean out some muck that had got stuck in there - presumably from the field she ended up in!!!

She drives lovely now, and sounds great too!! I won't get too many miles in her until they stop gritting the roads. However, I will be taking her a couple of miles down the road in the next week or two to get the body work sorted. Last job before she's back to her former glory....!

Not all the parts that came off were for the scrap heap however....

One of the trailing arms (the passenger side) is perfectly fine. As are both the drive shafts. The other trailing arm is slightly bent but could be re-used if you know how to straighten these things...?!?? Bear in mind, these are the M Roadster trailing arms with the extra bracing - not the standard E30 type! The two original alloys... well, I don't know if they are repairable or not.

I will be putting all these parts on eBay this week, but if anyone wants anything in the mean time, please feel free to message me direct...!IMG_0271.webpIMG_0277.webpIMG_0278.webpIMG_0279.webpIMG_0280.webpIMG_0282.webpIMG_0284.webp

I haven't got round to listing the spare parts I have left, but I have taken the Z3M to the body shop. She's been there a couple of weeks now, (they are doing the work in between jobs to keep the cost down!!!!) and I have a few update pictures.... He was just putting some colour on today!!!

Wont be long now!!!

FINISHED!!!! Finally picked her up. What do you think? Looks and drives lovely now!

Just a couple of teething things to sort now.

Get a new remote key, and get the code for the radio. Other than that... bring on the summer!!!!
