Just a little update.
Noticed my mpg dropping off over recent months and not all due to the Basingstoke Whacky Races either..
So, I did some research and read about the ‘disa’ starting to stick could lead to fuel issues. Having noticed my rev’s not dropping as quick too, also another failing ‘disa’ issue. I decided to contact my buddy Nick Jupp, replacement disa arrived next day from an E46 330. Result. New gasket seal ordered from an eBay seller after
@Lee reported a good result on Sam’s 2.2 using it. All arrived and then the stripping out, easy torx t40 screws and one connector. Existing disa seemed very dirty and slow to close compared to the replacement. Took some time to cut out the old rubber bmw seal so I could get a nice snug fit. All sorted and back in, even if I did loose one screw on the drive.. lucky I had a spare available to carry on.
Photos below show the old disa and the new disa with the red silicone seal in place. After today’s little South Downs Run, I can report that little Fi, seems like a new car. Quicker to respond and the revs drop nicely again too. So if you log your mpg and notice a drop, think about servicing your zed in more detail. It might save you a disa failure and other issues.
Old worn seal and dirty disa valve unit
Replacement seal, and disa unit.
FI back to lovely responsive driving. Happy days.
