I always paint M-Tec discs before fitting them. I use CarPlan Aluminium Silver paint.

Latest addition is an oil cooler. Fit quite well but the engine bay is getting pretty crowded at this point.
I also fitted a remote oil thermostat so it only cools when the oil is hot.

I assume with the twin eared diff cover you had to lose the spare wheel carrier?

Spare wheel was gone when I got the car. Previous owner put quad exhaust on the rear trying to mimic an M.
Exhaust was nice but I passed it on as I couldn't get something suitable for the turbo to fit without relocating the battery and lots of work.

Started collecting parts for the next upgrade. I want to increase the strength of the diff and cc joints. Already lost one joint.
I have been doing research and have an E36 M3 Evo 210 LSD diff and E32 drive flanges.
Diff will require a 4 bolt input flange and custom mounts. The E32 flanges have a 42mm shaft so fit the bearings but use an inner adaptor flange that the cv bolts to. Stock is around 29mm splines and the E32 are 36mm. This also allows for bigger 108mm cv joints. Will require a little machining to fit the original ABS sensor ring and to get it all to fit.
Fingers crossed. Still need to do some more research and figuring out but I think it will all work.

Just read through this thread, absolutely fantastic.
A friend of mine has recently fitted a built b30 turbo into an e61 - so I have a slight idea about the amount of time effort (and cost) that goes into it.
Heres me thinking swapping my b22 for the b30 will be "enough".

Mine started with the M54 intake manifold swap and being depressed. A few percent power increase wasnt going to cut it so things spiraled from there. I am reaching the end of the line though. After this I cant see anything else I really want or could upgrade. All I could think of is a full cage and turning it into a track queen and thats not what I want.
I was never happy with the hot start and a few items from the first tune on this engine. I ended up taking it to SCS Delta who made the ECU. They are based in Norfolk so it makes it even easier.
They just called with some bad news as they are limiting the engine. I am simply running out of fuel pump at the top end and they cant give it without it going lean. They had it over 600hp but limiting it to 540 at the minute. Not a bad problem to have at all.
They did say that the engine combination is running great and once the fuel supply is sorted out the power level will go up dramatically.
I already have a big pump in the tank and think my only option now is to go back to a stock pump with a seperate surge tank and larger pump for the enigne.

Took a week fitting a better pump and AN-8 supply lines along with replacing the banjo bolt at the fuel rail with questionable flow characteristics. Then found out the power supply wasn't good enough. Already had a separate relay fed straight from the battery but the wiring wasn't up to scratch.
Upgraded the wiring and relay and no longer have a voltage drop.
You know it has taken to long when you spend an hour trying to find the screws for the fuel pump cover. Was pretty sure I through them out with the stones and jelly beans when the seat we as removed to access the pump. Just as I was bolting the seat back in I found them safely in the door card pocket.

Larger fuel line with better fitting to manifold.
Fuel pressure sensor wires into the ECU so the tuners can monitor the fuel pressure. Last time one of them happened to be under the bonnet and noticed the fuel pressure dropping off and that explained why the corrections were going eratic.

Car was back at the tuners yesterday and today. It ran out of fuel supply again but this time at 680hp. They turned the boost control down so it only make 650hp and I am done. That was only at 1.5 bar of boost and there is a lot more in the engine and turbo set up but I denfinatly have more power then I need already.
Stock 2.8 with 3.0 intake and items was around 200hp.
Stock engine with Holset turbo made 425.
Built engine is now 650 with potential for more.
I am in the area of redicoulous but love driving it.

The tuners really like my car so had another go at it this morning. They managed to break the 700hp mark. They have turned to boost back down a little for daily use but at least I know it has it in it.

I have been worried for a bit as there has been a small blue wet patch on the garage floor for sometime now. Really tiny leak and I feared it was the common issue with the cut ring head gaskets used for high boost. The steel rings sometimes limit compression of the normal gasket part so they weep a bit of coolant.
Either way I got a radiator pressure test kit as I could not find where it was coming from other then the right frontal area of the engine. It is just where the head gaskets normally leak, cooling lines for the turbo and half of everything else I jammed under the front is located.
Turns out the Mishimoto radiator is leaking at the core on that side. I have heard they dont have the best build quality but its the only larger radiator I could find. They have a lifetime guarantee so now I get to see how well they honor that.
I maybe jinxing things but I am amazed at how well the car is running at this power level. I drive it daily and its been up and down the country without missing a beat.
