Yes folks ths year will be the last one....

The local planning department approved an application which will make the road outside of ours too dangerous to hold our open days. Dispite our best efforts it was clear that the applicant (large national house builder) has the council by the short and curlies !!!
This is just bonkers! My wife is an Architectural Designer and Building Control Surveyor (not the same Councils), but I would bet something is amiss here. I am on IT, but have enough experience helping my wife with some designs… Councils are not always right on their decisions, and that can be challenged.

Hi all. Just a thought. The land that Zedfest is held, is I'm guessing privately owned and owner can have whoever and however many friends round? Not paying the £5 entrance fee, (IE business) but paying £5 to be put into a draw for a raffle where one of us will win a tube of Smarties. (IE NOT Business!?).

if you don’t want to pay entrance fee then don’t turn up. The money goes towards the upkeep of the watermill.

Don't think he doesn't want to pay £5 he is suggesting a possable way round the event being in its last year of Zed fest

But do agree anyone not happy with the nominal charge should stay at home

I think you have misunderstood the previous post @Mac27040. They seem to be suggesting a way of getting round the problem by everyone paying the £5, but calling it a voluntary 'Raffle' run by a group of guests rather than the 'Entrance fee' to a business activity.

I agree with Ken and Paul Neil, I'm sure Rod and Kate will show up and happily pay you a fiver to attend, as will I. Hope you can find a way to keep this event on the calendar to help with keeping the Mill running.

Its not about being a business or private, the issue is highway safety and the new road junction opposite our driveway will make it unsafe to hold ZEDfest in the future

It's a great shame Neil, not only that you are unable to host ZEDfest, but that this development has been passed which no doubt you do not welcome. I think we are all grateful that you have hosted this event at your beautiful historic home for several years.

Think I wacked a hornets nest 🤣. I'll pay £10 for being a very naughty boy. As said such a shame for the building. Sorry to offend.

Hi All, ZEDfest is back for another year and will be held on the 13th August 2023.

PLEASE NO BBQ

We do have card payment facilities for drinks and food. Please bring your £5 note for entrance

Car can arrive from 10am no earlier as we will be still setting up.

Local police will be attending our watermill open day (ZEDfest) and will more than likely be doing speed gun checks on our road!!!

SupaKool (mobile aircon re-gas service) will be on site, please let me know if you would like it doing. Just to say i had my Z4 system emptied as i’m doing an engine swap, car should hold approx 700g, however i have not had it done whilst owning the car (10 yrs) and it only had 400g left in it. They said most cars lose 10% per year. So well worth having it done.

We will be filling up paddock 1 first then paddock 2, followed by Menage, yard, paddock 4, 5 & 6 the last paddock 3. This is all on first come basis, please dont ask to be moved until everyone is in. Finally please respect my home and the fields as the grass is feed for our horses you are driving all over!!!

The plan is just turn up on the day, entrance will be £5 per car NOT per person (cash only).

The Bull & Bush local pud will be managing the drinks, food and a small bar on the day, Watermill & Blacksmiths will be in operation.

ZEDfest 2023 is 13th August. 10.00am - 4.30pm

Look forward to seeing you all.

Neil.

No Zedfest for me this year - got the car out to wash it in preparation for Sunday and the bloody front calliper is seized on. I thought I'd heard it sticking when I was out earlier in the week and noticed excessive amounts of dust on the nearside front wheel.
Never mind there's always next year - oh hang on :bashhead:

Just caught up with this thread such a shame that it could be the last Zedfest we have managed to attend 3 times since we got our zed and alway a great day well organised and more than worth it.
Gutted that cant make this year wanted to bring the Orinoco as its the only one of the zeds i haven't had there now may not get the chance. 😥
Feel for you Neil if your quiet corner of the world shattered by thousands of new people cant help thinking something similar will happen here
4550 people live in town surrounding area last year finally finished tge long campaigned for bypass (31.5 m ) est cost then have built new education campus amalgamated the local primary schools and a new secondary school in a campus ( 45 m) est Co-op have moved out of their smallish shop in the high st that been there for years to a brand new bigger shop up near the school ,town hall and other parts of the high st getting a revamp
So just waiting for the announcement of some giant housing scheme for the town to ruin the current rural setting.
Stephen.
