Having fitted a new soft top, I would like to know if anyone has considered which reservoir washer fluid to use. I'm certain some fluids could leave marks of residue in the fabric and others may just be plain harmful. Anyone ever found an effective cleaning fluid which they would recommend?

I am keen to know this too. The problem I find is, because i mainly drive the Z in the dry months, the 5.3L off washer fluid often last a a year. In that time it gets slimy and clumps of grey fungus start to grow. This then blocks the filters up.

I am about to put the Z away for winter, and would like to add washer fluid to prevent freezing but don't want more sludge build up.

Has anyone found washer fluid that is good for long term use without building up sludge?

Use distilled water and don't add any actual washer fluid. Come summer, drain and re-fresh with new washer fluid.

Add some alcohol to the water - If you use something like methylated or rubbing alcohol it'll prevent freezing.

I’m told white vinegar is effective for reducing the grey fungus

Just drain it if you are putting it away

To get rid of gunk drop a Milton tablet or two in and leave to do it stuff and then empty out later or if your brave pop it in the dishwasher and don’t let the other half catch you out. I got blamed for breaking our last one after being caught out using it as a parts washer:whistle:
