New to the platform.
Just started working on a 98 2.8L. I ordered a new power steering high pressure hose (pump to steering rack) to remedy a power steering leak.
I expected to receive closer to a 1:1 replacement, but I received the unit on the left. I fail to see how it’s a “perfect fit for my vehicle” on most part stored I checked.
The original hose (right) fits in the space just under the air intake box and power steering reservoir. The replacement hose, while having the corresponding fittings on each end, must go from under the pump housing, past the sway bar and under the main crank, then come back around to attach to the steering rack. I am not a doctor, but that felt very wrong.
I’d like to know if anyone had success using this hose. Maybe I’m missing something.
I am considering returning the new part and simply purchasing a new seal for the bolt in end. I hear those and the ear style clamps under the res are the most common points of failure.
