Never did a long journey in my Eunos, but, they did have very comfortable well padded leather seats on the imports with speakers built into the head restraints.

I have one of those sitting in my front garden, it belongs to my daughters boyfriend and has an elusive electrical problem which means the indicators don't work. The MOT has run out and he cannot afford to get it fixed. It is three years newer than my Zed and there is no comparison. although the MX5 is very nice to drive with a great gearbox and steering and very responsive the bodywork is awful. Until i got to look at it closely, I didn't realise how bad they are. there is obvious rust on the sills and I dread looking any closer. I think I will have to subsidise the repair so that it can be MOT'd and sold.

Yeah, but this bloke shat himself when he found out that one of the blokes at the scrappy had pulled out the dash with the navy in it...

I thought @Grumpy was savvy and new the right people but he could not get anyone to nick his Kia....:D
Believe me it had been disussed but when you have a "family member" in the job saying, DO NOT HAVE IT NICKED, it's a tad awkward!!!!

Speakers in the headrests is such a simple clever idea you can hear music with the roof down.

Long shot, but I had a similar problem once, it turned out to be a faulty hazard light switch.

Yup, common fault

I loved my mk1 mx5, so much better to drive than the z3

However, no power and never ending rust are a proper pain in the arse

Oh plus, crap handbrake mechanisms that snap and take the whole.caliper with it

Rear callipers fail mainly due to being set up(adjusted) incorrectly, which applies forces where there shouldn't be any. Can't beat the Z system for parking brake.

Its slowly coming along some seam welding done and most of the parts have been made, luckily sourced a real awkward part from Mazda, its the black panel at the front lower inner wheel arch, It appears that there there is a major design fault with these, the drain pipe from the gutter along the back of the roof comes down the inside of the inner rear quarter and comes out at the bottom, the problem is that there is a joint just before it comes out and both where found to be seperated at this point thus allowing all water into the the sills, no wonder they rot so bad.
