I am in the early stages of thinking about changing my wheels for a set of 17's.
What are people's thoughts on style. If I do go ahead I'd like a set of staggered ones.
I would maybe be happy to have a swap for my M3 replica's IF I decide to go any further with this. Also what people may think mine are worth as this is what I'd have to spend on my next set.
I have looked at this before with a swap with @Lexybhoy but held off in the end due to Mrs Grumps liking the wheels that's on.
I will have to try and talk her round again! I really love the wheels that's on and they are in superb condition with excellent vulcan 452's all round it's just that the offset is e41 so the fronts are at the max and i'd like something that may run a little smoother now I'm becoming an old fart! I'll shut up now. Any thoughts or suggestions much appreciated from them that know the car and them that don't!
If anyone does have a potential solution please PM me.
Thanks everyone.

You'll need to find something special to replace them @Grumpy !

I agree with @jue1 :p
You wheels do look great @Grumpy :)
It will take something special to replace them :)
Good luck in finding a replacement :)

Yep know what your saying lex but am really fancying a set of 17's. Something similar to yours and @brilie I reckon but open to suggestions. I love my wheels but they've always niggled at me for some reason.

When Alan said about getting new wheels for our Z @Grumpy :p
I didn't really know if I wanted to change them :)
But when we did get them and had them fitted .......... :)
I was really pleased we went for the change :)

Hello Dave,

I'm only keen on original wheels, I don't like many aftermarket wheels, the M3 wheels have always been my fav and do suit your zed.

I think multi spoke wheels suit the car.

You have to be careful not to put too modern a wheel on the classic car the z3 is.

Just mho

Thanks mate, that's why I posted this as we all have different opinions on things so though it would be good to get peoples views before I do or don't do anything. I am leaning towards doing something to be honest.

Dave, I do like your wheels but if you fancy a change have a look on the Rimstyle website: http://www.rimstyle.com/

Lots to choose from there. May give you some ideas.;)

Tar Dave, now you've attempted to swerve the question, what would you do!

Well, I think I would go for same/similar style but I agree with going down to 17". Especially now you're getting on a bit;)

When I was looking for new wheels for the Z4 I really liked these:

I got all the way through to almost putting my card details in but had seconds thoughts about the 4. And you know the rest of the story;)

I think as has been mentioned that with a BMW if you go aftermarket and some style that was not /is not a stock fitting /looking wheel then it appears to change the whole car.
Its the only car i have owned that it feels like its wrong to restyle it away from its roots.
BMW did a great job on wheel design and still do so most wheels look good on most BMW's.
You don't often see anything vastly different from standard but there are no rules.... the Z is a very unique car and every one unique to its owner again nearly all within the stock options BMW gave us.
Its a hard call i love the look of 18's on the car its a sports car and they fit that ideal in my eyes but have to say a 17" staggered setup may give a little more comfort on a car driven everyday.
Wheels are very much a personal thing its finding what looks right in your eyes after all you will live with them and wheels make or break a car on looks ..
I don't envy your decision its a tough one as the money envolved for most makes it a one choice option...
Looking forward to your choice Dave what ever you settle on will be the right choice.

Thanks Ant. Mrs grumpy has now put her ten Penarth in and still doesn't want me to change them. The car isnt driven daily or monthly in some cases but when it is especially on the Derbyshire cruises and simular places we get rattled to bits. I'm aware the car is ready for new shocks which won't be helping either. I may put a vote up and see what comes back from that.

The new suspension may give the car a whole new feel and as its next on the list times gonna tell !!

Very hard choice to make. I have had 2x sets of deep dish multi spokes. The first ones where the Inovit Dtms which really suited the Z3 which now Mozz has and a set of Cades Tyrus which just did not look right on the car yet to look at them they where almost the same apart from the dish on the Cades was polished and on the Dtms Stainless. I have now gone away from Deep Dish to the Concave Style. 18s really suite the Z3 and to me the 17s where just a tad too small

Hmmmmm. The choice is endless Dave but IMHO I think your current style of wheels look perfect on your car. That said, be interested to see what you come up with should you change. Good luck.

Did I say I think your current wheels look great?

...Mrs grumpy has now put her ten Penarth in and still doesn't want me to change them...
The answer's clear then Dave, same style but change to 17". Win win=))
Apart from the wallet:(

For what it's worth, I think your wheels really suit your car. The spokes seem to match the 'gills' but they're not to wild and in your face. It's a great match. I'd suggest you don't change them for looks alone.
But, it sounds like it's the ride that's upsetting you more. A change to 17s will make an enormous difference but will not look quite as good.

I'd take council close to home.... ;)

Agreed Ian, that's why I suggested same style but go down to 17":)
