Boring but nice (and practical) 2009 E91 320i, import from Australia, good spec for the year and only Europe got the troublesome N43 motor, mines got the uprated N46TU which the rest of the world continued to get until 2012.

My daily hack is a Mercedes GLA200. I have my Z3 3.0i, of course, which at present is in bits having a twin eared diff fitted, along with new brake pipes suspention bushes etc. And a Lotus Elan which I restored over a period of 2 years in the early nineties it is 46 years old now. I also have an Ikarus C42 aircraft for fine days over the Solway and Lakes.

The Colb fleet minus the wifes Suzuki Alto and the Caravan towed by the Ssangyong Korando which has prioved faultless since we got it, only a new battery on that and fresh brake pads and 4 tyres in our ownership, will be replacing it with another when the time comes. The Z3 on Sorn this year and just put the Honda on Sorn, keeping the Z4 on the road for occassional blast. Ssangyong is the daily driver as is the Suzuki.

The handbook is all English, and is still 400 pages long.
It has more technology than Perseverance Mars lander.

I had one of the previous model 118i s which was ok, although I preferred the Audi A3 that I had before it. That new 118 looks very nice apart from the grill, as with other new BM s. I have just got rid of my latest Audi A3 which I didn't like. The new digital dashboard drove me up the wall. Just too much information which I found distracting. Also, the power steering was too aggresive , tending to grab the steering and follow grooves or white lines on the road.

Got rid of my E Class Merc last September as there was an expensive steering issue and took on the new A3, but as said, I didn't like it as much as the previous A3. So I looked around. None of the new cars have cd players which I don't like and we only use the daily to visit relatives , all nearby, or go to the shops. I saw a VW Passat for sale locally, low mileage, 1 owner, immaculate leather interior, cd player as well as the other entertainment stuff and thought it would suit us fine as the daily runabout, so I bought it. For holidays or trips here or abroad I want use the Z4, so why have a new car just sat on the drive? If it doesn't work out or there's a problem with the VW I'll just have to see if I can find a new car that doesn't have so much technology that it drives me up the wall. Old people.=))
