If you remember, a year ago, my club organized a race on circuit: five laps with closer time as possible.
A weekend ago we had the 2017 edition and I had four competitors and...I did it again: 1st place!
I feel like in the story with the rabbit and the turtle....:D
We used even transponders to measure the lap time!;)

As you can see, this year I tried to be more responsible and show a good example to the public and the word SAFETY was on the first place!;)
Maybe I was a little bit too "safe" for 20 miles/hour....=))

My favorite competitor, a Moto Guzzi 1942:

And now comes the funniest part of the show:
I won also a weekend in Istanbul for "Porsche On Track"! (offered by one of our sponsors: Porsche Romania).
So , in November I will drive the latest models of Porsche on The Formula 1 circuit in Istanbul, with trainer as copilot! I can't wait !:)...and usually November is a cold and sad month....:D

Dan, .....you'll just have to fake him out at first and act as if you're new to all of this, then after a few minutes, open it up and show him some of the stuff you've learned from driving your Z3..............give him some grey hairs...............Frankie

Sorry for keeping you in this suspense but it was so alert that no pics during the event were possible (at least for me :D...)

As comparing to drive test that I could attempt (BMW and Mercedes) , this was more than a drive test due to the Intercity track used for it and not only!

Many of you had this kind of experience until now but for those who didn’t , I will tell you the full story with my own impression.

Sunday morning we started the event at 9 sharp. Briefing (short and precise) and split 50 participants in 4 workshops. In each car two participants (changing on the wheel each two laps of the circuit). Probably for safety reasons, they „cut” ¼ of the track, meaning the most dangerous part. One trainer was leading the group of 5 cars and one trainer was ending the group.

  1. 4door Cars on track
Yes, we drove the funny four doors Porsche , few versions of Panamera (including the hybrid) and Macan and Cayenne! I was impressed by the interior finishing of the cars and by the agility of the Cayenne!

2.Offroad and Kick plate

Very interesting the Offroad with the Cayenne features: we tested the X cross Bumps with two wheels in the air, climbing on 37 degrees with stop on the mid slope, going down hill with assistance and side reclined car (25-30 degrees).

Don’t know if you are familiar with the Kick plate? There it is:
You drive a Macan on a permanent wet surface. At the entry on the wet track you have 40, 45 and 50 km/h. In the very last moment , while the front axle gets on the wet track, the rear axle get a strong kick to the right or left (aleatory), from the plate that you are passing on. Naturally the car starts to spin and you have to help the car to keep the straight direction more as possible. And you do that with and without the electronic safety features of the car. In the car there are 4 people and it’s great to stabilize quicker as possible the spinning car. And a lot of fun too...when you’re not behind the wheel!;)

I loved this part! Hope to get, from some participants, few pics of this workshop.

3.Sports cars on track
P1420077.JPG

Was the most wanted part of the event.

Luckily the rain (shower) of the morning was not so strong to keep the track wet and all sports cars could attempt the circuit. The GT3 2018 model (arrived Saturday from Germany with only 100 km (as millage)) had semislick tyres , which could be a serious problem in case of rain...

So loads o HP: GT3, Turbo, Turbo S, Cayman, Boxster...in Sport and Sport+ mode.

Loved to push them. Seems that the trainers were very generous with us as they allowed us to reach in some sections of the circuit 220 km/h, where with the four door cars we just got 180 km/h!

I loved the feeling of the GT3: very spartan, with roll bar and less insulation. You could feel and especially hear the engine better. A so therapeutic sound and vibrations...:racecar:

Probably for safety reasons we drove just in automatic mode and I realized that ironically, after 6 hours on track and about 20 laps of circuit nobody changed the gear...Although the sound of changing gears (rpm) up and down was great.:coolsteer)

4. Slalom and Launch control.

The slalom was great fun , done with a Boxster 2 liter, but the launch control with a GT3 was the cherry on the cake for me. It’s long time watching the guys in different series doing that with Ferrari, Lambo, Ford and Porsche...Didn’t expect I will ever experience that...

Brake- Full throttle- screaming engine- release the brake and...2.7 sec for 60mph and brake till stop in 30 m...excellent feeling!

...and at the end we had bonus: they made a lottery for copilot in a car driven by a trainer.

Everybody was looking for the lucky number of GT3...Mine was a Panamera:(...I have to tell you that I’m extremely satisfied by the choice: the pilot drove the car to the limit (we were four people inside) , drifting in all corners. At the end the inner rear tire paid its tribute, spreading rubber all over!:D

All in all it was a great experience, turkish hospitality, good weather, nice company.

I learned much that I can use for my Zed, that I’ll never push to the limits:), because I realized again how much with how less he’s offering to me!
Soon as other pics will come from the event mates, I will bring it here...:)

Thank you Tony!
The 2nd.
My mate , the winner, used a chronometer, I preferred to enjoy the ride.:)
The day was great, you're right; one of the few this summer, when didn't rain!
This year we had the rainiest summer in the last 60 years. A very Brit summer: rain everyday...;)
