Dry days and roads only for my Z3. Hopefully as the month progresses and into February I will get the opportunity to give the Z a day out☀

Haha my Z is a high maintenance girl, no time for another..

BMW 316 compact - 1.8 strangely. It was my dad's but he has sadly passed. He always said it was (and I quote) 'fantastic' so despite my disagreement I can't bear to let it go.

Sorry to hear of your loss Ash. I bet you might come to like it the car, pretty much the same underneath the skin.

Tony.

The Compact is a good little car, bit more practical with the hatch back. BMW did all sorts of odd engine numbering back in those days.

I've found once you get used to using the gears the performance isn't that bad. I could understand badging a 1.6 as a 318 would boost sales, but as I want it as a car to suffer the miles - economy is more important anyway.

Back then a lot of the 3 series were plugging up and down the motorways by sales reps who cared more about the badges on the boot lid than the interior spec. A lot of our sales and senior techies were very badge conscious.

Even had a guy who just scraped in with a bottom of the price list poverty spec SAAB 900. It didn't have air con as it was a paid option, but he wouldn't wind the windows down even on the hottest days in case people noticed it didn't have it. Would sit there in a pool of his own sweat rather than admit it didn't have it.

Anyway, back on track the most annoying bit of the drive involved cyclists.

Why do they ride 2 abreast on country lanes?

Got stuck behind a couple for at least 1/2 a mile.

Best bit was passing them at full tilt in second gear

:ymdevil:

As discussed with Ash previously, you ought to try Holland for the cyclists.....

That's the old former Shell Research and Technology Center building in the background of your photo in Amsterdam.

Was going to take Zelda for a blast this lunchtime :coolsteer), but was out at 8am helping to take down Aylsham's Christmas lights. (Noticed lots of brass monkeys walking around bent double and moaning!) Anyway, we finished about 11.30am, then had tea and sausage and bacon rolls provided by our ladies..Got home, fell asleep till mid afternoon.:bashhead: Must be getting old!

I say sir, you are not a gentleman. I demand satisfaction. Find yourself a second and it's pistols at dawn.
