Personally I like them Mark, and if you sprayed them the finish would be the same. As for the ///M logo, why not?

Not perfect as I found the paint thick to put on, so not a consistent finish probably the hardener in the paint was going off quicker on these warmer days we have been graced with but the finish is quite shiny. As Paul suggested I can give a light sand and repaint.I’ll take another look after our break in Germany.

I wonder if she will take us to the BMW museum for her anniversary what more could be better:whistle:

Looks really smart! The underside looks so much cleaner now.
 
I think the caliper look good as they are, its difficult to achieve a flat finish as you need a lot of high build primer, I did just that but my concern it that it will crack with heat, so far so good though but time will tell

That's a big old job you've taken on there. I've done most of it to some degree or another across cars but never all the way through on one car yet. Many, many, many hours of work.

I made a start on a full job on a 2.2 back in January and it's still hogging the garage. It keeps getting put on the back burner while we do other cars.

We got a good result use VHT paint on the 3.0 calipers and carriers. I really like the way this paint goes on. Very easy to apply and very shiny. Underneath is epoxy primed.

Fronts were shot-blasted.

Rears cleaned up by hand in Deox bath. Not quite such a smooth finish - the rears come in for a lot more abuse so are more pitted.

But bearing in mind they started looking look like this we were happy.

Not a great start for new year. In April I had taken a 50% off offer with BCS automotive to have my wheels refurbished which I paid for with no rush to get them done and be a nice way to round the project off. I received some email offer on brake refurb and in the blurb they have discontinued there wheel refurb service so I contacted them as to when I can have my wheels done. It transpired that they have gone into administration but been bought out by someone so they keep there jobs and will not honour any old debt not related to brakes and been fobbed off with a solicitor to contact to make a claim which I have done. I’m not to hopeful on getting my money back. A lesson learned though could kick myself for not getting the wheels done sooner. One fact that annoys me though it was only by chance if there promo email that I found out. They must have known the way the wind was blowing and should have offered customers a chance to get the service they paid for.

That's a bit crap Mark. Hopefully you'll get your money back and be able to pay someone else for the service but like you say it's a doubtful. Fingers crossed.

I was receiving their emails until a few days ago and guessed as much what was going on.

I’ve always found their marketing bullsh*tty and decided to unsubscribe.

If you can find yourself a good local blaster/powdercoater calipers are well within the reach of refurb for many people.

Wheels, especially split rim are a different matter though. But generally I’d advise finding someone who doesn’t need to advertise, especially in the way BCS did.

I can’t see you getting your money back but at least you still have the wheels.

To me, that 's the same thing as having your door bell ring on New Year's day and when answering the door, you open the door and before you can realize who's there, you're punched in the mouth and knocked down and the person who did it says: "Happy New Year" and walks away.......................................Frankie

Hi doing a cracking job on your refurb , it's unfortunate that this firm has gone into administration and to try to get a refund you would need to claim through the solicitor, or if you paid by credit card and it was over £100 claim back from card company under clause 75 non supply of goods or services as described , worth a try

Very true. I got my money back (after 2 months) when that holiday company went under on the summer.

Hit a hiccup with the rear hub removal as one of the puller legs broke so that’s going back to Amazon and looking at an alternative. As I packed up for the day I realised I’m going to have to remove the Center of the exhaust to change the hand brake cable. Good excuse to change the prop shaft bearing carrier and gubbo while I’m at it.

Must say the Makita impact wrench has made the job a lot easier. Hub nuts spun off without a sweat.

I think with what I want to do I don’t think I’ll have it back on the road for about three months. But I’ll think I’ll get the rear beam, trailing arms and maybe hubs blasted to reduce some of the prep time.

Sounds like your getting stuck in. I'm at the bottom of a steep hill with mine. Thing is when you do a proper job it is a hard uphill battle but worth it for the long runs down.
