quick question, is a head gasket a candidate for the Zedshed or should I just "person up" (let's be PC) and get on with it? I'm considering buying a do'er upper'er that I know has blown HG

Lee, perhaps a quick write up / reminder for the newer members on how the Shed is set up, aims, what's covered, how things get billed/paid for, what are typical jobs, how you get on the list so to speak, etc ....

Sorry chaps, I didn't write this article so didn't get any updates.

Depending what engine you have I only have one timing kit for the M54, something we will be doing for sure.

Sure thing, we started in 2013 just tinkering with Z3's with soon branched out into bigger things. Within 2/3 years we started doing subframes gearbox builds, as the years went on we refined the process introduced powder coating. When we got to 2019 we started placing with engine swaps, we're now confident we can swap or upgrade any 6 cyl engine which is a better way to go due to how cheap you can pick up an M52/M54 lump. M52 & M54 engines are interchangeable we've proven this with my Z3 going from a 2.2 - 2.8TU then to a 3.0.

The new chapter with the unit is to allow us more room to expand and branch out into other areas, one of which I really want to do full engine rebuilds in M52/M54 along with M43/44. We have some really knowledgeable guys in the units near us who keep surprising us with connections and equipment they're happy to share. We don't do paintwork but we do have a local paint shop that continues to impress us with quality of the work they do.
