I sure hope this is a lesson to those that saw it happen both young and old and you must be traumatized @Shelly! What do people think of to do such dangerous stunts just to save a couple of minutes?? Hope they prosecute and the boy isn't too badly damaged. JIM

People are so inpatient these days as they have so much going on in their lives ;)
Just to think how many people this had a impacted on ......... :)
Just to save a couple of minutes :)

Have you any word on the boy's condition @Shelly? I hope he has no permanent damage!! Otherwise he may have a lifetime of pain and suffering to pay for the driver's need to save a few minutes and no monetary compensation can make up for that!! JIM

No haven't heard a thing yet @oldcarman :p
The children are on their school holidays at the moment and this happened on the last day of term :)
My daughter lives a few miles from the school so we may not hear anything until they go back :)

Hi everyone.............:p
I've got a update on the young lad :)
He's ok , luckily the car hit his scooter and knocked him off it but he didn't go under the wheel , he went under the underside where the boot is ......... ;)
He was taken to hospital and later released with cuts and bad bruising :(
But what a awful experience for the young boy and his family :(
The lady is waiting to go to court ........... :)
Let's hope she don't get away so lightly.:)

Glad to hear the boy's okay, could have been such a tragedy had the end result been different! Thanks for the update! JIM

Yes that's very true @oldcarman :p
Thank goodness he was ok ;)
But I bet it will be on his mind for years to come .......:(
Let's just hope he's young enough to forget about it ;)

school runs it seems the only way to get to school these days is by car no matter how close you live, even on a sunny day parents would not dream of walking to the school to meet there kids , by me as with every other school it it is total chaos there is a 20mph speed limit you do that and you will have some one 2" from your bumper normally that car is full of kids, the laws for school run cars dont exist they can park on the pavement , even block a cycle path of forcing cyclist to go into the main flow of traffic do u turns on a exit of a duel carriage way, and while all this is happening the is a speed cop hiding his van under a bridge booking any one who is going over the speed limit, this is deftly a case of revenue from the driver in the fact he totally ignores all what is happening around him, one day i will video it,

It's very true what you are saying @phil.a :p
All the rules get broken for the school run :(
All parents are always in a rush , hopefully something will get done at this school because this has happened :)
Perhaps when the new term starts they will send a policeman out to watch the traffic to see what is going on ;)
But saying that it's been done before and after a week or so Mr plod will be gone and the traffic will return to how it used to be :)

I'm glad the lad isn't seriously injured.

There will always be a safety issue around parking near schools. We all need to be more vigilant when parking and pulling away.

As for the speeding issue, I thought there was a mandatory 20mph speed limit around schools these days?

Yes their normally is a speed limit near schools :p
But I don't think people abide by the Highway Code :(
Think it's only when the police are around they slow down ;)

there is a 20mph and that is in force at all times, some people think that if the school is closed it does not come into play:confused:

At Trinity's small school there is a traffic ban while students are loading or unloading. Parents park in a church lot across the street and walk in to get their small children and the older kids cross over to meet their parent. No traffic on school property equals no accidents!! JIM
