Calling all techys. Jue has a 57 Kia Sorento and between 1800-2200 revs through every gear the car vibrates badly.
I've had conversations with various peeps and what I thought it may be with my limited knowledge have been dismissed.
Been told it won't be, wheel balancing as this would show it's self at a certain speed, UJ's, apparently would cause vibration all the time as they are part of the prop. I'm stumped and trying to avoid a garage bill to get sorted. Any help and advice much appreciated
Thanks all
Grumps.

Long shot mate but our Galaxy had a dual mass fly wheel clutch (what ever that is) changed to a single mass when it went. Judders in every gear for a bit but has been no dramas. May be miles off, however .......

It may be an imbalance in the prop that just vibrates at a set rpm it seems odd its in all gears .
As its rpm not speed its unlikely to be wheel balancing.
Is it the entire car that vibrates or the steering ?

It's the whole car Ant. You actually can't feel it through the steering at all. It's an odd one for sure

One thing for sure it appears really common but no real definitive answer.

Thinking logically mate. It's an item that rotates:

1) Props/drive
2) Dual mass
3) Wheels

Starting with the cheapest first work your way through. Also try a few things like dipping the clutch when it vibrates (does it stop?) that would rule the clutch itself but not the flywheel. Does the vibration go if you take the speed higher?

Thanks Lee, if you accelerate slowly it still does it at the same rev range 1800-2200 but not as bad. Not tried dipping the clutch. I'm nipping to fetch a puncture repair kit tomorrow for reasons that you are aware of so I'll go in Jues and try it.
Wheels? Well it has an almost new set of Generals all round which arn't cheap at £100 a corner so wouldn't think the tyres are at fault. It's the Rev range thing that's frying my nut!

The Dual mass is mentioned as a possible issue the main thing mentioned appears to be the u joints
They all mention the issue between the rpm's you quote some have replaced the full transmission through warrenty and its still there as common as it is Even Kia don't seem to pin point it.
