Do you also do tactical packing? I find the bags for life 4x are perfect for Tesco shops in the Zed...

I drew the short straw today and had to do the Tesco run this morning
Took my Zed
Managed 2 large and 3 smaller bags for life and half a dozen 2L bottles. Still room for a French stick!
Parked at the opposite end from the store and no-one parked next to me while I was shopping. Result.

Can't you just look for another job Tony ? I know what it's like working in a job you don't like. I was made redundant about 4yrs ago and after being out of work for 4 months I got a job working for a national hire company, and I hated every second I was there.

I'll always be grateful to them for taking me off the dole but my god, they expected their pound of flesh every day.

Who's going out in their Z today, we thought about going across Exmore to Lynmouth or Lynton up the famous Porlock Hill but don't think that the weather is nice enough, will wait and see.

We were up at Lynton and Lynmouth a few months ago. We went up A39 Atlantic Highway from Indian Queens, up to Barnstaple, then on to Woolacombe and Ilfracombe, then back to Lynton and Lynmouth, over to Porlock and down into Minehead.

It was a great day out

To be honest my comment was a bit tongue in cheek Garry, but it's the people I work with which makes it a pain not so much the job itself although the tech side of car repairing is leaving me behind.
There are very few compnanies in Lincoln paying what my employers pay me. I negotiated a good pay deal when I first started because they were desperate for a mechanic/tester and I played on that, 13 years later however a couple of the others are on much less (mainly on ability but also because they only do exactly what is asked of them and nothing more)

Painful though it is doing it sometimes, if its recognised when you go the extra mile, its worth it in the end.

We have a scheme at work called "Full Contributer". If you've gone the extra mile and then some you can apply, it needs 3 separate testimonials external to your immediate area of work and needs to go through two separate panels for endorsement or otherwise. Very long and convaluted process. Just did it for my head of fire safety resulting in a £7k pa pay rise, he's well happy.

Our intranet people directory lets anyone send a 'Thank you' message along with some words stating why you've sent it. It gets copied to the boss of the person so they can see whats been sent and why.
I think I'm more than double any other member of the team. Double edged sword though - Some bosses ask why are you spending your time doing something that isn't directly part of your job. Short sighted and unhelpful or what?
