Suspension Replacement/Upgrades Recommendations please? (Ta Technix any good?)

I've never known the trailing arm bushes failing an MOT. Sure, the rubber cracks around the sides where you can see but you just try getting the bastards out. If there is no play in them, they are fine.

A 1.9 narrow body Z3 uses E36 318ti Compact rear arms but anything widebody uses unique trailing arms and are ££££.

Hey , i was going to go for the sachs, but are the shocks the same as E30 or E36 ?
i see lots of kits for E 36'S but not many for Z3 , what's interchangeable on these cars?

The front shocks are not e30, the e30 has a housing thats welded to the hub and the shocks are an insert. The front wish bones and lollipops are very very similar to the e30. Tbh on my 1.9 I didn't see much difference with the rear Versus my e30 but I gather the 6 pots are a little different

Are the rear shocks from a E36 ? i have a 2.0 1999

As I understand it the front suspension is E36 and the rear is E30.

looking about some more I think you’re both right the price of the ta technix is suspiciousand I don’t really feel like putting rubbish coilover on just to change them out again.

Ive seen these springs on eBay so I may just purchase these for now and not replace the coilovers just yet.

These should give me the same ride heigh I currently have and I suppose there reasonably good springs?

I originally fitted a set of the TA technix to my Z3 quality was good and they are actually very good value for money but too harsh for all of the speed bumps around where I live but for the money I had no complaints

Used the TA Teknix on my Beastie.

The ride is OK if a tad harsh and in no way as good as Bilstein B12 et al. They are cheap and I needed adjustment as the 250 SWB Replica is nearly 250 kg lighter than a standard Z3. Sitting on the standard shocks the wheel arch was nearly 5" above the tyre! (not pretty).

TAs have been on the car for 5000 miles or so and the handling is good but a bit harsh as mentioned. I doubt these will last more than 25k miles or so before being knackered at which point Bilsteins or alternatives will go on.

If you need a quick, cheap fix the TAs are fine and have a lot of adjustment.
