Hi all, quick one. I am having problems with my soft close boot, it seems to have problems closing it goes through the motions several times up down up down but doesn’t fully close? When I drive off the signal comes for open boot, I can lock the car but fear water getting in? I’ve removed and checked all wiring into the lock and see no obvious signs of splits etc. any help or ideas would be appreciated as always 👍🏽

Hello Dan
I have just fixed mine, The car boot was twerking up and down trying to close.
This will happen to all e89s at some point, and BMW will try and sell you a full very expensive mechanism when it is just not needed

It's an easy and no cost fix

I have sent you all the photos of how I did mine, in a PM.

I would have put it as a sticky but I don't bother anymore, because there are plenty that challenge my own 'actual experience', in favour of other 'experts/guru's' who, let's say, have obviously more 'valued opinions' on here of what is definitely wrong.....

Because of this, I have chosen to adopt the 'my ball' syndrome now... and I can decide who I play with.
those 'experts' can advise otherwise, and if you think 'does he mean me?...... then I probably do..=))

Hi,

Yesterday the exact same symptoms happened to my E89. I'm wondering if you would mind sharing your photos with me with how you managed to rectify the issue. I would much prefer to try give it a go myself as I know a dealer would want to charge a fortune and have parts fitted I don't need. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks
Matt

Hi Pete
could you dm me I have the same issue
I had this issue since last summer, and didn't attempt to put the roof down as I have no garage and no-one to help me in case I cannot close it.
Now for weeks there is water leak in my boot, I cannot see from where but boot floor very wet. I thought it was from the boot seal.
Took to BMW and they said roof is contaminated but I didn't authorise the £1,000 job! Have anyone heard about this?
I suspect roof not opening and boot leak come from rain water from somewhere from the roof.
Anyone knows a mechanic who could fix it? I am hopeless and unable to do this on my own :(.
Huge thanks!!

I used to take my car to Ross when he was in Hook (and I was Surrey), then his garage moved somewhere else and I lost contact... :(
Thanks anyway
