No one has mentioned smoking whilst driving that's my bug bear :grumpy:
How can you be safe when you have a potentially dangerous object which you could drop.
That would definitely be a distraction
At least they have banned smoking in a car with children in it  but how they are going to police that I don't know :(

I used to smoke, in my car, with wife and kids aboard, wouldn't dream of doing now but that was way back when.
Anyway, when I used to smoke I had a Mk 3 Cavalier and I always had the drivers window open 1'2" or so. Every morning I would get to a set of traffic lights and while waiting for the lights to change I would tip the ash off the end onto the cobweb which was a permanent fixture on the door mirror, and every day this bloody great spider would come scuttling out from the mirror case to grab it's breakfast ............ only to burn it's feet on the fag ash, let go, and leg it back into the mirror. Made my day for ages !!=))=))

This is a bit :offtopic: but,..

Not related to cars and long before smoking was so quite rightly disliked, but, my grandad used to send his yorkshire terrier around the corner to the shop. The shopkeeper would give it a packet of Players Navy Cut and off he'd trot back home. That's genius.

Me and said Grandad used to sell milk on the local caravan sites from and old Humber Hawk when I was an old boy and one day his Park Drive dropped off his leather lip and went straight down his shirt. By hell he quickly stopped the old car and was out peeling back his shirt and braces bloody quick, I'll tell you.=))=))

My grandad used to send me to the village shop when he was looking after me and mum was at work, I was only four and the shop was about 250yrds away from the front gate with no roads to cross, he gave enough money for his cigs plus a penny for a chew as hush money. He never smoked whilst driving his horse and cart, no idea why not. =))

Remember those cigarette shaped sweets? We used to get sixpence off grandma to go down the shop for sweets and they were often among those bought. Those and blackjacks. How politically incorrect! I bet you can't get either of those now.

I was on the motorway today and saw 2 silly cows: One in a Z4 talking on the phone, the other hogging the middle lane in a Z3 holding her phone to a picture of the other talking on the phone!

I would have gotten a picture but I was too busy hogging the outside lane whilst reading zorg on my iPad and having a Skype call on my iPhone.
My digital camera was out of reach in the boot...

pulled up alongside a lovely looking young lady a month or so back. She was in a very smart, new mini.

Phone in her left hand, chatting away. I would have wagged a finger in disapproval, had the contents of the sandwich in her right hand not dropped into her lap just as the lights turned green! Kept me amused all day.

Anyway, penalties, take car and licence away for a month on first offence. Just think how much chaos that would cause to your life.

Don't see a problem unless you can't read we're expected to read road signs all the time and the overhead gantry signs on the motorway for one.
Just wonder how good a driver it would take to watch an episode of Corrination Street on a dashboard tele without having a prang, probably ain't a man alive would even want to, daren't even think about our lovely female counterparts.

One of the worst things to come to light in recent years is the humble cup holder
Cup-holders shouldn't be enabled to use until you've been travelling 30 minutes - your coffee would be cold by then
I just get a cold can of beer at the petrol station and drink it quick before it gets warm....:)
That was a lie, as the sale of alcohol at petrol stations was banned over here 20 years ago, not so in the UK and Germany.

Never could see the sense in selling alcohol at fuel stations.
