Firstly, Merry Christmas to everyone - I hope 2019 has been kind to you, and wish you the very best for good health, happiness and success in 2020!

………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….

One year after the opening post on this thread, and another £1,300 later, I still have my Z3! Running expenditure excluding insurance & fuel is now £10,200, and mileage is around 130,800.

Work carried out in 2020 includes:
NSF shock absorber & front brake disks & pads
NSF front wheel sensor
Front brake disk covers
Rear light unit RHS
Drivers' door mirror
Service

At the moment the car is an MOT fail (due 02/01/20) because it has an ABS warning light relating to the NSF ABS sensor which the garage can't get rid of. They have referred me to an auto electrician to check the harness that connects to the sensor. No doubt that will be another £100 bill....

Otherwise the car seems fine.

Whilst I still enjoy driving it, the bottom line is that I cannot justify spending any more on the car, and it has to go. No more dithering!

So, I have been considering my options.

Autotrader:
I realise the time or year is bad for trying to sell on Autotrader and I'm not sure whether the Z3s listed are really selling very well anyway. There are certainly cars with less miles in more popular colours. Not hopeful, and potentially loads of hassle. Also advertising cost.

We Buy Any Car:
Offer is £950.

Breaking the car:
Seems like sacrilege and I don't have anywhere to do it, the skills or the time. Probably could be a good option financially.

Scrappage Scheme:
Ford/Hyundai/Kia/Mazda and others - at least £2,000. OK you have to commit to buying another car, but I need a runabout so its a sensible option.

It is heart-breaking that the best outcome seems to be scrapping the car, especially as it has a lot of excellent bits.

Taking all that into account, I thought I would see if anyone on the forum would like to save my car from the scrap man and match the scrappage scheme price?

I know my round 2.2s and values pretty well. If you want to use me as a sounding board or get any advice just PM me. I'll do my best. But with 7 Z3s currently I'm not sure I will be a potential customer!

For the work that's been done I'd defo put it up for at least £4k.

@Jack Ratt thanks for the tag. To good a car for a winter hack though.

Where are you located as this may have an impact on offers etc.? No MOT means trailer or truck.

Tony.

It’s still MOT’d until 2nd Jan so someone could be driving themselves home in a very very nice Christmas/New Year present..........

Great colour! A red sports car. Would make someone’s partner a wonderful Christmas present that they’d very much appreciate.

So pleased to hear that it wasn’t scrapped. That’s got to be some consolation to you. Merry Christmas!
