Hi All, I want to put some rear spacers on my 2.2i sport which on original 17” BBS split rims. I’m thinking 20mm but struggling to find the bolt on hub centric type. Anyone bought similar? I’ve seen loads of 25mm bolt on but unsure whether this will mean the top edge of the tyre extends beyond the arch. I know there are threads on this but with so many variants and off sets it’s tricky. TIA Clive

Wrong type Ken? He wants the type which bolt to the hub, not with extended length bolts I think. But why, who knows?

Tony.

I did Ken, and I still have the same ones on my E89. Never had any issues with them either.

If you get the bolt on ones you don’t need new wheel bolts and new locking bolts. That’s really the only reason.

Personal opinion obviously, but I don’t think those BBS’s need spacers..they fill the arches well as is

Locking bolts. Really? I haven't bothered with those on any of my Zs.

Tony.

I think the split rim BBSs (Style 78s) are probably the most desirable Z3 wheels ..but still..when was the last time you saw a car up on bricks ..it’s not the 80s 😁 (btw I have locking wheel nuts on mine as I sometimes drive in to Portsmouth!)

Exactly. 40 years ago Alloy wheels were rare and desired. Nowadays every man and his dog has alloys, so it's not a thing anymore.

Agree I have removed the locking nuts from every Zed I have owned. More trouble than they are worth. Who nicks alloys these days.

Problem you have with 20mm its not enough for a chamfer and bolt head. That's why you see them listed for 25mm, that's not to say you cant get them but you might find them pricey due to material type etc.

Purchased bolt through 20mm rear spacers and very happy with the outcome. Saving now for some coilovers to sort the ride height out. Thank you for the feed back on this thread. Always a learning curve!
