I think I have too much effect on the Zeds power to weight ratio as it is! And as for the plane we already can't fill the tank full as we'd go over max takeoff weight!

Yep just another way of folks trying to con us. The metal tins were made by "metal box" in Mansfield. They were a cracking company to work for but when quality street and roses etc turned to plastic tins they shut the factory and opened a tiny one down the road leaving a lot of people out of work.

It's grim up north, for jobs. Look at the coal mining industry finishing.

Think about it.... Someone, somewhere, will try to sue them for making them overeat and get fat. This is why they have reduced the tin size! Just joking but I am sure you know what I am talking about.

Just think of the reduction in calories each tin provides - healthy eating?

Our last pit 3 miles away shut down a few months back. It's very sad after generations of families are left to rot. Good old Mrs Thatcher!:mad:

I think that it was inevitable the coal mining would stop.

It can be brought cheaper from abroad, like a lot of other services.

Technology moves on

It's sad though, but the Internet has and will affect a lot of other services too.

Upto 4 years ago I worked at one of the last two of the deep mines rememaining in the UK. Even when they were still digging I was picking up south American and Russian coal up from the docks. The owners of the pit shut it and laid us all off as they prefered the import option.

A grim reminder of how polarised politics of just a few can destroy the livelihood of millions of people.
I'm the first generation for the last 5 or so to not work down the mine - thankfully, my dad refused to let me near one, but I have great respect for those that did work in those filthy dangerous places.

Your not wrong Ian. You come from Kirkby so you'll know how many pits we had in the area. Now we have none.

Just my honest opinion about a very sad time in recent history Dave. To simply blame all of it on Magaret Thatcher and her government dismisses the point that the NUM had made it their aim to bring the government down ( quote from Arther Scargill). The DUM, however realised at the time that the industry had to change and being militant wasn't going to save jobs, but just the opposite, a fact told to me by a guy who moved here from Notts who also worked in the mines. I was stopped from going to a job over the Trent by "flying pickets" during the strike and they scared the crap out of me threatening me with violence. I was not connected to mining in any way, shape or form but those bullies stopped me going out to earn my families living. At that point I lost any sympathy for them.
Just my opinion, and that's all I will say about it.:)

Tony.
