Perhaps I was being too simplistic, if you leave Crich downhill towards Whatstandwell it does take you to Wirksworth although you have to cross virtually straight over the A6 and up the other side through lovely twisty roads, done it many times and great fun.

Those lovely twisty roads form part of this event. :)

Hi, premier Inn. DE5 3QP. Only a few minutes from the start point.

This will be interesting - its a visit down my family tree - Have traced predecessors of my family to all those villages. My Grandad was also in the Sherwood Foresters who are celebrated at Crich stand. Glad its not moved - can see that from my parents bedroom window - until some houses are built later this year that is :-(

The start point has a lovely hotel...in fact it was rated in the top 10 hotels in the whole of the U.K. on trip advisor. It's not cheap at around £130 for a room but it's special. I had my wedding reception there. There may well be a discount if you mention the group as we're registered as an official event on the day. ( www.Morleyhayes.com )
Failing that there is the premier inn as mentioned which is right next to Derbyshire police HQ so you should feel safe!

We're going passed Crich Stand. It's one of the "points of interest" on the way.

There's another premier inn at Phoenix park, just on the Notts side of the M1 and 25 mins from the. Start point. Not stayed there before though but my sister stays there when she visits. I've eaten in their restaurant which was nice enough.

Do you know anywhere nearer to the start?
As we are traveling from Hertfordshire early Saturday morning to the Cotswolds for an all day conference
Then traveling up from there so will be fairly late on Sat evening so will need a decent sleep.
So nearer to event start in morning would be better.
